Where was Joba's fist pump?
It's obvious now that Joba's antics last week were all about Dellucci. Otherwise, where's the reaction after striking out the side in a tight game vs. the division leader (albeit Tampa Bay, though they are much improved and had taken the first two inthe series), compared to a 6-3 game against the Indians? This guy has a ton of talent but bush league antics.
05/14/2008 4:31PM
Oswalt to Yanks?
for Damon, Igawa, Mary Shelly Duncan and Ian Kennedy? What are you smoking? Why would Houston give away a Cy Younger for a washed up leadoff hitter, a minor league pitcher (in Japan), a minor league first baseman and a guy with no mental makeup? Don'tquit your day job.
05/14/2008 2:08PM
Torre Coming Back?
Torre will be brought back for the 2009 or 2010 season.
05/14/2008 4:14AM
Yankee Fans Unite
If you atr a true Yankee fan you should bend over and kiss your own butt goodbye for 2008. Yankees should recruit some girls softball pitchers to improve their rotation!
05/13/2008 6:46PM
Good-bye Stadium
I remeber Mike saying last year that the Yankees should not have a farewell for the stadium during the regular season because they " always make the play-offs, I hope he's right but the Angels are looking pretty strong
05/13/2008 1:09PM
Subway series
Could we care less about two .500 teams playing this weekend for "NEW YORK" supremecy??? What a joke both of these teams are. Combined they could maybe make one slightly competitive team!
05/12/2008 10:11PM
Lackluster
Please look this word up in the dictionary. The Yankee team photo is there.
05/12/2008 9:55PM
RE Joba
Did O Neil and Brosius show up opposing players? Come on guy, lets call it what it is. Three words for Joba.....Oil Can Boyd. Another classless player. Yankee fans who just started rooting for the team in the 90's wouldn't know him but trust me, you wouldn't like him. Same as Joba.
05/12/2008 9:15PM
Good Pitching ...
Good pitching handles good hitting every time. Come on management -- get some pitchers!!
05/12/2008 4:10PM
Trade time.....?
Package Damon, Kennedy, Igawa, and Duncan together and send them to Houstopn for Roy Oswalt. Do it before Kennedy proves he needs more time in the minors than Cash says he does....
05/12/2008 3:54PM
IGAWA
could not agree more write him off! the worst!
05/12/2008 1:00PM
Igawa
let's stop the madness Igawa is the worst free agent signing since Pavano
05/10/2008 9:48PM
Leave Joba Alone!
So nobody cares when Papelbon pumps his fists, nobody makes a big deal when Manny Ramirez stares at his homeruns on homeplay for half a minute, nobody cares when pudge Rodriguez walks off the mount with his hand high up and that one finger showing he's #1 after every game won by his team. Heck, we have to pick on a young Yankee player which showed devastation after delucci hit a homerun off of him. We didn't say anything when he was down, looking all depressed and sitting by himself. I think we all should grow up and play the game before criticizing someone
05/09/2008 4:05PM
Joba
Should keep doing the fist pump thing just because it bothers people. Not everyone has to be stoic like Jeter or Rivera. Every team needs their Brosius's and O'Neill's showing some emotion.
05/09/2008 12:40PM
To the guy who spells it "Jabba" at 8:35pm
Last time I checked the games in May do count. And what is with this idea that baseball players have to be CLASSY???? Go watch some Polo.
05/09/2008 10:22AM
RE Joba Strikeout Punchout
Buddy, first of all Delucci did not show him up. Secondly, the way a pitcher would get back at a batter is to get him out. END OF SENTENCE. Nothing else is needed especially his little league antics!!!!!
05/09/2008 10:20AM
RE : Joba Strikeout Punchout
Wasn't Joba's fathers defense about why he did his riduculous antics after a strike out to Frank Thomas because Joba grew up a huge Thomas fan and had his poster on the wall as a kid? Well apparently he was a huge Dave Dellucci fan growing up as well. He needs to put things in persepective that Kid. And don't give me the "he's only 22 speech". The majors has had many 22 year olds, and younger (Doc Gooden 19) over the years, who pitched just as good and never showed veteran players up! Also, he can't even use the defense that it was a tight ball game (6 - 3 in the 8th with 2 outs) Classless to say the very least!
05/09/2008 10:00AM
Cashman is Fine
It's only been a year basically that he has taken the approach to build up the farm system so let him keep doing what he is doing and see what happens. You just had 13 years in a row of making the playoffs and yeah I don't want to really sacrifice a season, but if it builds for another lenghty run then let it be.
05/08/2008 9:20PM
Joba Strikeout Punchout
Why do people complain about Joba's routine after the strikeout of Dellucci? It's about time the someone in the Yankees lineup showed some emotion during the game. I'm tired of people whining that it's showing up the hitter. Does anyone complain or do something when the batter hits a home run and shows off? Sure, when the pitchers sees that batter again and hits him, the pitcher gets thrown out. So, if a batter can show up a pitcher, it should be fair game for the pitcher, especially if it is a strikeout. I am so tired of people like Mike and the Mad Dog talking so much crap about Joba's strikeout routine. Can't they find anything else to whine about.
05/08/2008 8:35PM
Jabba Should Grow Up
Jabba The Hut should act like he belongs in the majors, instead of yelling and screaming after a 8th inning strikeout in a May game...show some class Jabba
05/08/2008 7:56PM
Mets fans attack Joba
Ok Met fans calm down about Joba-he is only 22 years old and he plays with alot of heart. Maybe some of your ballplayers should try to learn how to play with heart . I usually do not waist my time on Met fans but I must defend the KID. Joba will be areal good pitcher. I do not know if he will be agood starter but he definitely will be areal good closer someday. Now Met fans worry about MR Wagner and your set-up pitchers. It seem to be that you guys though the EAST was in the bag once you got Santana--well I do not think that is the Case. You still have not recovered from last years colapse. I do hope for another Subway series but the Yankees have problems too-CASHMAN
05/08/2008 4:05PM
Joba relax
back to the double fist pump and yelling. Relax dude, it's May 8th. Fix your hat too. It's not like Delucci showed you up.
05/08/2008 10:51AM
RE: Cashman Should be Fired Now
I agree 100% with that!
05/07/2008 11:14PM
Cashman Should be Fired Now
Cashman is the one of the worst GMs in baseball. He brought us : Pavano,Jered Wright,Heretta,Endsberg,Billy Traber ,Kae Igawa,Albladeho and the Big free agent signing Hawkinsless. Cashman just does not know pitching. I see the Dodgers with several good young ballplayers and some japanese Pitchers( including agood lefty) but Cashman can not find good young talent. Why? We have the highest Payroll in baseball and we do not have alefty relief pitcher. cashman passed on Santana and NOW he must pay the price-Hank fire him NOW!
05/07/2008 4:27PM
the line- up
giambi=.148 cano=.153 betemit=.143 molina=.220
05/06/2008 10:07PM
Joba Crying????
Can someone tell this kid that he has about 18 more years of this? What does he think he is never going to blow a game? Be a man Joba. The ladies play in Queens.
05/06/2008 10:02PM
Met fans boo???
Joba just gave up the 8th inning and was booed immensely by the Yankee faithful. Even Michael Kay's blathering and the YES pumped in music couldn't block it out! And Yankee fans are yelling at Met fans for Johan? (which I agree is wrong).
05/06/2008 9:47PM
RE: phs63
I agree! And he should also get a uniform number that baseball players wear not offensive linemen. And if you believe that nonsense about "number equaling 8 for a friend" then I have bridge for sale in Brooklyn! Well now numbers 31 and 34 are available!!!!!
05/06/2008 3:17PM
bep
Not including Rasner, the SWB Yankees have two starting pitchers with better era's than Igawa, they should be brought up first, get rid of Igawa, he doesn't have speed or control.
05/06/2008 1:15PM
re: yohan never
Hey, the Yankees should make the playoffs every year with a 250M payroll. I laugh when the Yankee fans pay for the teams the never win anything, HA HA HA HA !!!!!!
05/06/2008 1:11PM
re: yohan never
Lets see? 99.6 % that the Mets shouyld have won the division. 100% that the Yanks should have beaten the Sox. Which is greater??? You are embarrassing yourself. And the Yankee fans constantly boo A Rod so I am not sure if you actually watch baseball. And the Met fans did not boo Santana on OPENING DAY. IT was a week later!!! WOW, you are very good at being wrong! And A-Rod is the best player in baseball but that is because I know baseball. You are such a loser Yankee fan that you would never give credit to a Met. Real quick buddy, who was better, Tom Seaver or Ron Guidry? Ha! Since you are probably a fan since 1996 you probably saying "Who's Ron Guidry". Next you will be saying the Don Mattingly was better then Keith Hernandez. Don't worry buddy, I'll learn you something before we are through!
05/06/2008 8:57AM
making moves
hopefully rasner will help to plug half of the hole left by our rookie experiment. Not to say they won't be back in some capacity , but you have to now make a move to get another starting pitcher.
05/05/2008 1:46PM
yankee sound off
how about harang from the awful reds
05/05/2008 1:43PM
An ace pull off
could the yankees possibily get aaron harang off of a terrible reds team?
05/05/2008 12:37PM
Hughesed
I'm pretty sure Francesa said Hughes would win 12-15 this year. LOL!
05/05/2008 9:11AM
re:yankees are dead
Typical mets fan worrying more about what happens to the yankesss then their own team. Hey do you wonder why we are never bloggin on your site? WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE METS! simple as that worry about your own team althought the one thign i will agree with you about and luagh about is the clemens thing! what a loser um but i believe that your team has wielded a few in the past as well ..think about it :)
05/05/2008 9:07AM
re: yohan never
Wow you Mets fans have a glitch in the system the yankess collapse was in the POST SEASON THe Mets didn't even get there ! that is why it is considered the biggest collapse in history. The MEts percentage of getting to the playoffs with 17 games to go was 99.6%! i mean you have to try real hard to NOT make it buddy and they obviously did And Yes if you are bloggin on this website , and listenening to the station even the mad dog ( who is a Met fan) is embarrassed by your actions on opening day yes you booed him , yes you embarrassed yourselves no the yankess fans to not boo arod, but i will agree the best player in baseball hey met fan get you facts straight before you come back !
05/04/2008 4:18PM
phs63
I think the Joba Chamberlain should wear his cap like a Yankee and not a gangsta rapper.
05/03/2008 2:15PM
Yankees are DEAD.....
....just like Heath Ledger. Your playoff run ends this year, A-Rod is A-Bum (he's glad to be on the DL that means more illegal Texas Hold 'Em tourneys with his buddies Johnny Roast Beef & Tommy Bag of Donuts). And the hype about this JABBA fella...pleeze...He looks like a special ed student, then you got Hank & Hal aka Imus and Dog The B ounty Hunter of MLB also the son of EX-Con George and lets not forget 'bout Rotten, Racist, Better Living Through Chemicals ROGER CLEMENS. Memo to Disney Channel & Nickelodeon studios: DON'T LET ROGER NEAR YOUR FEMALE TALENT!!! And one more thing...LETS GO METS (We got Johan, DEAL WITH IT!!!)
05/02/2008 1:15PM
October
Everyone just calm down. The season is early and all of the yahoos commenting on who should go, this guy is a loser, just remember October. 23 games out last year and they made the playoffs. Now, you have the right and should critisize them for lasts years collapse in the playoffs, but for now sit back and watch and stop acting like Met fans.
05/02/2008 12:38PM
Kennedy and Hughes
We need to all take into consideration the fact that while both the rookies have been horrible they have not had Posada behind the plate. I know everyone loves Molina, but look at his history, even when he was catching the Angels, his pitchers always had a higher ERA than the other cathers, and chad Moeller, what does he know about calling a came and keeping a rookie focuses. I have heard about how great Andy was as a rookie, he had a veteran presence behind the plate guiding him. Posada's injury hurts more than just from an offensive point of view.
05/02/2008 12:34PM
Kennedy and Hughes
Before we write off Kennedy and Hughes just remember neither has had any consistency in who was catching them. Jose Molina and Chad Moeller are no Jorge Posada, and an everyday Posada would have made a huge difference for these rookies. I would not rush Joba to the rotation unless Jorge is behind the plate, we don't need to screw him up also.
05/02/2008 11:46AM
re: yohan never
1st of all, the biggest collape in baseball history is the 2004 Yankees (of course you don't remember the playoffs against the Sox). Secondly, Scott Kazmir is not very good. Thirdly, the Yankees are very successful at having a $250M payroll. They always win that game! And the Mets fans didn't boo Santana on opening day. Get you fact straight. This coming form a Yankee fan who boos the greatest player to ever play the game on a daily basis (A Rod). Give me a break Nell Carter.
05/01/2008 5:47PM
So glad...
...that you didn't take Ryan's advice on how to pick up women. I can promise you that it wouldn't have worked.
05/01/2008 5:01PM
re: yohan never
nice comeback to the moron regarding santana! :) um yeah i think that you mets fans forget that you booed your new star player on opening day , very classy! Greatest franchise in the history of sports are the Yankees , you can argue that until you are yankee blue in the face buddy Mets: Biggest collapse in MLB history last season and living up to your reputation this year as well YOung pitching takes time to develop , but you wouldn't know that because you trade away all of your young talent remember Mr. Kazmir? yeah smart move there really paid off in the long run !
05/01/2008 4:16PM
Yanks future looks bright!
2009-No Giambi, Mussina, and Farnsworth will equal a much better ball club
05/01/2008 12:24PM
Hughes= Loser
Thank God for Joba, because Hughes and Kennedy are complete losers
05/01/2008 10:42AM
Major League
I think someone should show the yankees a clip from the movie Major League. They got a rookie catcher who doesn't know a fastball from a softball, a third baseman who thinks he is still in Texas, and a first baseman that can only hit doughnuts. Maybe ifthey throw the ball underhand Giambi could hit it.
04/30/2008 4:21PM
RE: JOHAN NEVER
last time I check the Yankees have been around for well over 80 years, because of this great run the last 15 years you morons think that Yankees developed a fan base since. You have to be pretty stupid and in fact a moron to believe that. This team is reach in history becuase of its fans was well. You envy us and wish you had a team like the Yankees to root for year in and year out. Pay very close attention because we will be getting bigger and better
04/30/2008 1:22PM
RE: JOHAN NEVER
Yeah his history in the playoffs isn't good and that is a problem, but at least he will get the Mets to the playoffs. I understand Yankee fans are jealous that they have Hughes and not Santana but no reason to be bitter. Hughes won't even get Columbus to the playoffs (I know douches, they don't play in Columbus anymore, but he will soon be on the Columbus Shuttle). A reference to the 80's Yanks to those of you who jumped on the ban wagon and became fans in the 90's, which is all of you!!!
04/29/2008 4:52PM
Re To: JOHAN NEVER
What are you talking about? they are 14 - 11 and have played terrible. The Yanks are 14 - 13 and just lost Posada for possibly the season. Whats the matter, are you 2 years old and can't stand the fact that the Yanks have some salad years ahead of them? Grow up. You probably started rooting for them in 1996. Be a FAN not a child!
04/29/2008 4:35PM
RE: JOHAN NEVER
and if the Yanks face Johan they'll do the same as they all done, beat him. Checks the stats during the playoffs moron.
04/29/2008 7:29AM
Quote of the day?
Will we be hearing these words in the near future?..."STEROIDS?.....MARRIAGE VOWS??...CHILD ENDANGERMENT??...CHEATING???...Sorry guys I misremember the whole thing, now can we get back to talking about how great I am?"
04/28/2008 7:15PM
Carl Pavano?
Is he coming back to help sell yankee souvenirs?
04/28/2008 5:21PM
JOBA
Joba should stay in the 8th inning role until Mariano retires or falters then the closer role should be his. Memo to Hank Steinbrenner: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
04/28/2008 5:10PM
YOUNG PITCHERS
Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes have been struggling mightily, but there is help on the way. The "American Idle" Carl Pavano should be back by August!
04/28/2008 2:56PM
To: JOHAN NEVER
Sorry to disappoint you pal, but the Mets aren't making the playoffs either at this rate.
04/28/2008 1:04AM
Jeff Clement to Yanks?
Is there anything to this?
04/28/2008 1:03AM
Jeff Clement to Yanks?
Is there anything to the Jeff Clement to the Yankees rumor?
04/24/2008 4:28PM
Hey Mr. too much pressure
Don't worry, you're not a genius, the Yankees are fully aware that a veteran should be between Hughes and Kennedy. But who is that veteran? You can't put Pettitte or even Muss in there, to put either Hughes or Kennedy in the 3 spot, they're better pitchers than that. The fact is like Sweeney said, these kids have to learn the ropes, learn how to lose, make their appearances, pitch the innings. They'll come around. Most of the great pitchers in baseball history had pitiful rookie years. And Hughes is definitely still a rook.
04/24/2008 3:42PM
RE: JOHAN NEVER
Well the Yanks definitely will not face Johan in the playoffs not because Johan is in the N.L. but because the Yanks aren't making the playoffs this year!!!!
04/23/2008 12:36PM
Merti
Is Sweeny the actual clone of Joe Gerardi???...look at their pictures
04/23/2008 10:23AM
craig and boomer
dont forget candice parker
04/22/2008 4:33PM
re:redsox/yanks dugout
redsox didn't have fun on the bench for 86 yrs. Yankess will be fine, be patient. btw use some spellcheck.... you sounds like a dumb sawx fan!
04/22/2008 9:30AM
Joba rules
I think that the Yankees keep Joba in the bullpen. Taking a young man out of a role where he is dominant will mess with his confidence and just make things more messy when Chamberlain becomes a starter
04/21/2008 7:38PM
sweenys the man
That was a fantastic blog Sweeny...hopefully the young kids do learn from Pettitte...I enjoyed reading Andy's comments
04/21/2008 2:44PM
Fan Walk
Will the Yanks be selling bricks for a Fan Walk like the Mets?
04/21/2008 2:09PM
hank wanted to trade for johan
Mike and the Mad Dog are wrong that hank did not want to trade for johan. It was Cashman who talked him out of it
04/21/2008 9:17AM
arod
arod will be fine . pne of , if not the best conditioned athlete in the league, this injury wil not keep him down for long
04/20/2008 2:58PM
redsox/yanks dugout
the red sox look like they're having fun the yanks look they're don't
04/19/2008 10:46PM
Too Much Pressure!
What will it take for the Yankees to understand that they need to put a veteran pitcher in between Hughes and Kennedy if they are to help these young pitchers develop mentally! Right now is the right time to make a move in that direction to benefit both the youngsters and the team; you watch it will pay dividends in the end. Even if it is Mike Mussina, at least it takes a little bit of pressure off the kids. The Yankees believe that they are worth keeping and not trading for someone like Santana and I agree, but at what costs?
04/19/2008 1:41PM
King Phil
Hughes is so overated. His almost no-hitter will be the highlight of his career!
04/19/2008 11:05AM
Yanks Ban Anti-Red Sox Gear
I was stopped at the turnstile by NEW YORK YANKEES security on Thursday night and told to remove my "Boston Sucks" t-shirt or go home. My ticket was then marked and I was told that if caught inside wearing the shirt, I would be thrown out of Yankee Stadium. Mind you, I wasn't wearing this shirt in Fenway, I was in my own ballpark against our most hated of rivals. What is going on?
04/19/2008 10:15AM
don't look now... but
the pitcher that the yanks didn't think he's worth signing is 4-0 where's keiawga????
04/18/2008 4:52PM
andy's dandy
The Yanks were one Petite not returning away from being a 4th place team
04/18/2008 12:46PM
mussina
he stinks, the end
04/18/2008 7:01AM
Patience?
What has happened to the patience the Yankees used to show at the plate? Far too often they are swinging at the first pitch from just about every pitcher this year. Last night was a prime example. You aren't going to run Becket's pitch count up by swinging at his first pitch every time you get up to the plate. If you let the first pitch go by the worst that can happen is strike one. If you swing at it you could produce the weak dribblers or pop ups that were ocurring last night. How about making the opposing pitchers work again?
04/17/2008 11:28AM
great comeback
need middle relief worse than rolaids!!!
04/16/2008 5:11PM
stanks
Keep waiting...
04/16/2008 1:53PM
let the young kids pitch
I guarantee that if Kennedy or Hughes had worked themselves into the same situation as Pettitte did last night, both young starters would have been pulled. The problem is that the Yankees (and other teams) do not let their young starters the opportunity to work out of trouble.
04/16/2008 1:39PM

04/15/2008 9:02AM
joe making the right moves
give Joe Girardi a break, he is making moves that are going to be suspect until he gets more of a hold on how everyone is "Actually" performing. He put Cano in against the rays and it paid off. It does not mean he is a mastermind at all, it just shows that he is smart enought to make the "right decisions . Remember that catchers usually make the best managers!
04/14/2008 5:14PM
JOHAN NEVER
I hear "the Yanks shouda got Santana". The Twins were never gonna let Santana go to the Yanks or the Sux. Do you really think they wanted to tackle that in the playoffs, NO WAY! PS Giradi gave Mussina a shot and he blew it he's veteran pitcher so I'm cool with that NEXT time, pull him!
04/14/2008 4:39PM
stanks
200 mil payroll and this team is a joke. Your manager has no clue about universal baseball moves, the kids aren't ready, you have aging hitters, and 300 million superstar who strikes out every time you really need him. Can't wait till Jeter, Mo, and Posada decay so we can stop hearing about this storied Yankee team
04/14/2008 4:06PM
Privilege
It would be a privilege to work on Yankee Stadium. Much like it would have been to work on the Empre State Building or the current stadium.
04/14/2008 2:47PM
SHAKE UP THE LINEUP!
With Derek Jeter returning soon, I'd like to see a shakeup. 1.*Damon 2. *Abreu 3. A-Rod 4. *Cano 5. Jeter 6. *Hideki 7. #Posada 8. *Giambi 9. #Melkey Cano, Hideki and Giambi are almost interchangeable here, depending on who is hot or who is slumping. Derek Jeter is a great hitter with Runners In Scoring Postion. I think this team needs the mentality, that a double with RISP is going to get the runs in and keep the line moving. We need that right handed line drive (contact) bat to 'keep the line moving'. This lineup breaks up the lefties and righties better for late game situations. A-Rod gets more at-bats, and Jeter gets more RISP opporutnities where he has thrived.
04/14/2008 1:11PM
Hank
He has to cool it. An owner can never hope the **** gets kicked out of another team's fan, even a Rded Sox fan. Hank should be fined or suspended for saying something so stupid.
04/14/2008 1:03PM
RE-BURY it
Daivid Ortiz is in the biggest slump of his career. Put his jersey back and off we go to the World Series
04/14/2008 11:37AM
Buy-In Takes Time
This early period of time is still a "test" for the players and Joe G.! The "buy-in" factor is not complete and will need time to gel. If by July the yankees are still at .500, we need to examine if it is bad startting pitching or the Giradi "buy-in"?
04/14/2008 10:32AM
girardi falls asleep
joe what are you thinking with manny batting and first base open ..one of the worst baseball moves in the history of the game..
04/14/2008 9:56AM
udar
why didnt Joba pitch to manny inthe 6th on saturday. The yankees BEST pitcher NEVER came into the game. i hate "by the book" thinking.
04/14/2008 9:41AM
Phil Hughes
Can we finally stop talking about this guy like he's Sandy Kofax now? He got DRILLED by the Red Sox last night..
04/14/2008 9:26AM
the professor has failed
hey professor , check your degree again because i don't think it says " master of baseball predicting" Yanks and Sox both have a stronger all around team then the jays , remember it's early in the season and the yanks and sox have made the playoffs with alot more question marks than this in the past . The Jays will give them both a good run , but believe that they will come up short in the end . we have not seen what both of these teams can do once they really get rolling . The jays are opportunists and will not live up to their current record by the end of the year go get more schooling ! or move up to toronto
04/13/2008 10:57PM
sports johnny
Am I the only person who thinks Mussina should not have started the 6th inning? We had 4 relievers rested and ready to go, why not utilize them. Bad error in judgment, and I was screaming at the TV when Mussina started the 6th, I did not say it after theresults, that is not my style. That was a winnable game, that we let get away. Thanks for listening....

Phil Hughes
Hughes might just turn out to be a bust. He has the tools. He showed us something in the Playoff game last year but he shakes off more pitches then a 10 year vet. He needs to stop crossing up the catcher and pitch the game that is called. I am getting tired of his insistence on going away from his fastball in a 0-2 count. He picks like Mussina. He needs to get ahead and stop thinking so much. Can you say Triple AAA very soon.
04/13/2008 12:31PM
it's time to cut loose the moose
he's a pure example of a player whom doesn't know to quit it's time for him go away on his own on Saturday when Giradi left in to face Manny oh my god what he was thinking mike was going to throw his 75mph fast ball by him it time for the ny media get on his case and drive him out
04/13/2008 11:21AM
pitching to manny
Giradi better rethink his position as manager makes no sense
04/13/2008 8:35AM
Fox leaves yank flat
Anybody "t"ed off that Fox left the game with 3/2 top of the 9th. Good job
04/13/2008 7:29AM
clueless joe
would someone please tell clueless Joe girardi "dont let Manny beat you"
04/12/2008 7:33PM
not smart
you dont let moose pitch to Manny in that situation
04/12/2008 5:54PM
girardi
Are you kidding me? First base open and you let Manny hit with man on second and third. Do we have another clueless Joe on our hands?
04/12/2008 2:39PM
Giambi
Here's a guy coming under fire because he is swinging the bat particularly well. 25 is a much needed bat in the lineup however, because of his ability to knock em out as we saw him do last night with his solo game winner. He's been tremendous through Spring Training and is just waiting for his groove to show up and when it does, teams will dread an Abreu, A-Rod, Giambi combo.
04/11/2008 3:30PM
the professor
Frankly, I don't see the Yanks or Sox making the playoffs this year. Both have suspect rotations and aging lineups. This could be the Jays' year.
04/11/2008 11:04AM
jose jose jose!!!!!!!!
try to find a catcher in mlb playing better right now. calls good game great arm & hitting well
04/10/2008 4:26PM
giambi
because he can't do it
04/10/2008 1:27PM
farnsworth
hate him
04/10/2008 1:26PM
farnsworth
the worst dummest pitcher!!!!
04/09/2008 1:36PM
Damon
Face it, the Damon signing was a bad contract, the guy has declined since coming here. That being said, he's one of the only clutch Yankees come playoff time.
04/08/2008 3:24PM
time to excercise the damons!
agreed , damon is done , he love for playig far exceeds his actual production out there, although it will help us in the playoffs , we need to start to look elsewhere
04/08/2008 3:26AM
damon
damon isnt done its 6 games into the season
04/07/2008 5:45PM
Joba
Winning has it's rewards - if Joba wins, he gets carte blanc on the field.
04/07/2008 5:06PM
yank problems
What's gonna happen when a) a starter gets hurt? and b) when Joe burns out Jaba's arm cause they don't trust anyone else?
04/07/2008 1:59PM
yankees
I take that. Those are good numbers for a lead off hitter.
04/06/2008 9:07PM
yankees
damon is done maybe 260 10 hrs 70 rbi
04/06/2008 8:16AM
Giambi
How come Giambi will take a pitch one inch off of the strike zone to take a walk. Yet he will not lay down a bunt against the over shift ?
04/06/2008 8:15AM
Here we go again with Giambi
Watching Giambi try to play first base is very hard.
04/06/2008 8:08AM
Matsui looks old in LF
Man does Matsui look old in LF for the Yankees. I am hoping its just a hangover from his honeymoon.
04/05/2008 9:18AM
Joba
Who would you rather have the long haired bearded Johnny Damon who killed us in game 7 of the ALC game in 2004 or the clean shaven corporate Damon we have now with no pop left in his bat,, no range left in his legs and no strength left in his arm ?
04/05/2008 9:14AM
Joba
I saw the Oakland A's of the early 70's win 3 World Championships wearing long hair,, beards,, mustaches and getting into fights on a daily basis. Don't point to a dress code as the reason for winning.
04/05/2008 9:10AM
Joba
Why does Franny think we should take David Cones word as Gospel. Franny said that Reggie Jackson is not a true Yankee yet bow's to David Cone who was only a hired gun for the Yanks as we all know.
04/05/2008 9:07AM
Joba and Babe Ruth
Did anyone see Babe Ruth after hitting the first home run at Yankee Stadium rounding second base and heading for third taking his hat off and tipping it to the crowd ? That is emoiton from the # 1 Yankee Icon ever.
04/05/2008 9:04AM
Passion Reply
Great Sound Off. I might add that Jimmy Connors and Johnny Mac were two of the best tennis players in the world and used emotion to help there games. Md is suppopsed to be a tennis fan but somehow he forgot those two great players.
04/05/2008 9:01AM
Johnny Gomes
What kind of message are you sending out to give the guy who game in from right field and started the fight one game ?
04/05/2008 8:59AM
Melky
After watching Damon play CF and Matsui play LF I am so glad that the Yanks did not trade him and Hughes to Twins. I dont care if Melky bats 190 we need his glove and arm in CF.
04/05/2008 8:49AM
Ian Kennedy
Ian Kennedy got bombed but showed no emotion on the mound. Is that what we are supposed to want. NOT !!!!
04/05/2008 8:47AM
Joba
MD is so jealous of Joba. He would give anything for Joba to be on the Giants. There would be no talk of his emotion if he was a S.F. Giant.
04/05/2008 8:40AM
Joba
I will take Joba with the emotion anyday over Hawkins and Farnsworth who show no emotion.
04/05/2008 8:39AM
Joba
What would you rather have Joba get lit up and show no emotion or Joba hold the opposition and show a little emotion.
04/05/2008 8:11AM
Glynn
I'm seeing a trend with the yankee batters that reminds me of last year, they just don't have any study hitters in there lineup, one month its this guy the next this guy and so on and so on!!!
04/04/2008 12:24PM
rainout?
is it even worth going tonight, whats the weather like up in the Bronx? Jersey Shore.
04/04/2008 9:59AM
Rain
Hope they call the game early, but they will probably wait until parking lots r full and food and beer has sold. Greedy B's!!!
04/04/2008 9:22AM
Passion
I was listening to M&MD yesterday on my ride home. I hope they get to read this. I did not even see Joba's display of emotion the other night but I have read enough and heard enough to get a good understanding. If you have never played a sport in your life then you have no right to comment on the emotion he displayed. If you do play and you don't have a fire inside while you are in the game then you should not be playing. Why is it such a big deal when a kid who is so involved in a game get fired up about a strikeout? How is that any different then Jeter clapping his hands together after a crucial base hit or a stolen base? How is it any different than a player pumping there fist or flipping a bat after hitting a HR? how is it any different than Manny Ramirez raising his arms after hitting a home run or a player and the rest of his team jumping up and down on the plate after hitting a walk off? All of these displays of emotion are a part of the game. If you cannot see that the kid was caught up in the momoent and to him that strike out got him fired then you should start watching golf. Even then you will be exposed to the fist pump of Tiger and emotion that comes with sports.
04/03/2008 10:57PM
basic baseball
in the 8th inning melky made a bad play and nobody saw it .wake up Bobby Meachem
04/03/2008 10:53PM
yankee blunder
melkey made a blunder and the annocerrors never committee on it
04/03/2008 5:39PM
JOBA, Who cares
While all you guys are going at it over Joba's actions I have been trying to figure out how to get invited to one of Matt Leinart's keg parties. I have my priorities in order!!!!!
04/03/2008 4:43PM
PASSION
We need passion this year. I am glad Joba did what he did, it is a far cry from the morgue Torre was running last year. Keep it up JOBA!!!
04/03/2008 3:26PM
Leave Jobba alone.
The Yankees need emotion. They haven't had anybody show real emotion since Paul O'Neil. Jeter is a robot so is A-Rod. I was getting sick and tired of watching Torre with his hands in his jacket pockets and sipping on a bottle of Poland Spring. The Yankees need emotion especially when things are going bad.
04/03/2008 2:39PM
Joba
OMFG, can these 2 fools talk about something else? A young kid pumps his fist, who gives a damn?! The horse is DEAD, STOP BEATING IT!!!!
04/03/2008 11:33AM
duncan
When did Ducan become Lou Gehrig. Stop talking about this guy until he has a couple of seasons on the league before you put him in the hall of fame.
04/02/2008 5:30PM
RE: Joba Chamberlain
You are dead wrong. It is not a game, it is a business. Stop kidding yourself dude!
04/02/2008 5:25PM
Small Ball
How does Girardi not have Jeter or Abreu lay down a bunt in the ninth last night with damon on third and nobody out. Instead he gets stranded out there and fails to get a security run. Everyone has been saying that he would bring back small ball to the bronx, like that of the 96 yanks. A wins a win but could improve
04/02/2008 3:45PM
Jabba the Mutt
Please Joba, calm down. You struke out Frank Thomas in the 1st game of the season for crying out loud. He will get his comeuppance and then realize how a Yankee is supposed to act!
04/02/2008 3:43PM
RE: OPENING DAY FIASCO
The sad and sorry truth is that teh Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, whoever, do not care about the fans ever!!!!! They care about MONEY and protecting their investment (the players) while the fans get screwed out of time and money. The team actually profits from a rain out on opening day (concessions and parking). This sport needs a work stoppage now more then ever. Player salaries are out of control. Ryan Howard has been in the league for 5 minutes and is making 10 million dollars a year. Hell, I'm a Met fan and the fact that an arbitrator granted 6 million dollars to Oliver Perez is a crime after he was garbage the previous two years!!! I know that nobody wants to hear it but the sport has a lot more problems then steriods.
04/02/2008 3:38PM
Joba Chamberlain
I have been a life long Yankees fan and have seen the Yanks win plenty of penants. I feel that the one thing that they have been missing for the past 5-6 seasons has been passion. Watching Joba have passion last night really completed the game for me and I hope that he does it 180 more times this year!! I have been jealous of the Red Sox in recent years not because they have had better talent than us (because they have not)but because they have had more PASSION than us!!! Jonathan Papplebon has done the same exact thing many times and has been highlighted for this passion. We finally have a YOUNG core to our team and it's time for some passion!!!! IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE PROFESSIONAL AND PASSIONATE at the same time!!! Joba did not direct ANY of his passion toward the opposing bench and should contnue to PLAY the game the way he was "raised" playing it. THIS IS A GAME.... If I were to do this in my office every time I landed a big sale I would be a complete ass
04/02/2008 3:29PM
Joba is playing a game
!!!
04/02/2008 3:26PM
Joba's Celebration
Joba is only 22. It was his first Opening Day. When I've never seen Papelbon walk off the mound like Mariano. K-Rod will make you vomit. Jose Reyes' celebrations last as long as Mardi Gras.
04/02/2008 2:30PM
Joba rules!
Did Joba think he recorded the last out of the World Series last night on the mound? Relax dude, its game 1.
04/02/2008 10:02AM
opening day fiasco?
if they played the game in that weather , people would have went the other way and said " we pay good money for opening day tickets, why should we have to sit in this type of weather!?". Can't please everyone, oh yeah i think the attendance was still55,000 the next night so i think some people were able to attend! get over it !, Yankees fans don't complain about the little stuff like that , it's all about championships brother , go be a met fan and complain about Martinez gettting hurt! :)
04/01/2008 6:10PM
Mike "The Yankee Fan"
I understand Mick was great but he was not better than Willie.... Take Mantles 13 great years from 52-64 .3109 BA 441 HR , 1233 RBI , 1412 R, 133 SB, 1347 w , 1274 so to Willie's 54-66 .3154 BA, 518 HR, 1414 RBI, 1520 R, 270 SB , 946 w , 897 so .... Willie Mays was the best all around player and better than Mick in comparable primes offensively.
04/01/2008 2:29PM
canseco?
does anyone want to hear from this man ever again !?!?!
04/01/2008 11:04AM
OPENING DAY FIASCO
It was a total disgrace not attempting to get the game in yesterday. People plan opening day way in advance, like taking off from work. In alot of cases they can't do that again. When the game was called, it was barely raining. People have sat through alot worse weather than that to watch a game. I got home about 8pm, after having to stop to get a bite to eat. It was dry all the way home!
03/30/2008 9:57AM

Who are you the class Geek ? This is not a grammar sounds off board but a Yankees sound off board.

How good was he doing play by play? Who knew? Another year of Kay's screeching hyperbole is enough to make me hit the mute button.
03/28/2008 5:41PM
mike and the lazy dog
Please guys, I beg you, do some homework and talk about hockey! We've got a monumental race between the Rangers and Devils and great head to head eastern matchups every night and you guys talk about spring training basebell for 5 hours. Stop joking about how bad the Giants will be and learn some hockey!
03/28/2008 10:54AM
Mr. Mario Monti
Did anybody notice during the Red Sox-A's series that Ortiz and Varitek were a combined 0 for 15.
03/24/2008 7:27AM
What a Shame...
It pains me to read these posts because it forces me face the fact that the educational system in this country has produced a generation of morons. Can't you clowns even form a proper sentence?
03/21/2008 9:20AM
Pettite
Knowing Andy Pettite he sleeps like a baby cause he told the truth. He only has to answer to God not Roger Clemens.
03/21/2008 9:18AM
Bob Larenza Sounds Good
Hey I like the way Bob Larenza handles the announcer job on YES. He and Singleton did a fantastic job. Id like to hear more of him and less of Michael Kay.
03/21/2008 9:15AM
Joba Looks Awsome
Joba came in for the first time since being named to the bullpen and struck out 3 batters in one inning on 11 pitches. Plus Kennedy looked fantastic. Looks like a good decision for Girardi.

Susan Waldman Reply
hey moron, the Yankees have filled 4 million plus fans at the stadium for the last few years and they filled more then 40% of all stadiums in baseball. We're the number 1 team in all of sports world wide and all due to the fans. Don't hate us because of who we are, slap your father for not making you a Yankees fan.The loser here is you.
03/20/2008 11:38AM
Petitte the Liar&Cheat
Hey Andy, how do you sleep at night since you put your "friend" Clemens under the bus. FaQ

Big Papi Brushed Back Reply
Get used to it cause with Joe Girardi as manager the pictures will protect there players. Big Papi be a man and get rid of that Knights Armour you wear up to the plate. And yes Manny is next.
03/20/2008 9:15AM
Joba in the Pen for 08
Manager Joe Girardi made his first major decision and has put Joba Chamberlain in the bullpen setting up Mo for 2008. Great move by the first year manager.
03/20/2008 9:13AM
John Sterling
John Sterling is a great announcer. He actually did Islander and Net games before he did the Braves and Hawk's. I love his home run calls. A Thrilla by Godzilla is my favorite.
03/19/2008 4:01PM
Big Papi Brushed Back
Pettite must be on roids. ROID RAGE!!! Next he is going to throw his bible at Manny!!!!! Loser!
03/19/2008 9:54AM
Susan Waldman is Red Sox Fan
She admits she was Red Sox Fan growing up. Didnt you hear her gushing over Roger Clemens. Just because you work for a team does not make you there fan. She is the number 1 Red Sox Fan and she is big part of Red Sox Nation. Red Sox can have her.
03/18/2008 3:56PM
Susan Waldman Reply
What a loser that said Susyn Waldman is a Red Sox fan. I know you are an embarassed Yankee fan who can't admit it. She is the face of the Yankees and I feel sorry for the REAL Yankee fans out there (all 10 of you) who remember Bill White, Frank Messier and the Scooter doing all the games in the past. The phony Yankee fans (pretty much all of you) are the ones that think John Sterling is an announcer for the Yankees. Real fans know him as the voice of the Atlanta Braves! I know some Yankee fan's heads exploded hearing for the 1st time that Sterling announced for another team before. Losers!!!
03/18/2008 9:45AM
Poopie will eat dirt
The filthy sux have gotten away with hitting Yankees for years and little if any payback. Not this year. You can bet poopie will eat dirt this year. Yesterday is an example.
03/18/2008 9:07AM
Big Papi
I am glad that Andy Pettite thru inside at Big Papi. He wears that body armour and hangs out over the plate and kills the yanks. Nothing wrong with giving him some chin music especiallly after Taverez hit our Captain Derek Jeter the inning before.
03/18/2008 9:05AM
New Look Yankees
Did I actually see Andy Pettite brush back Big Papi yesterday ? Congratulations the Red Sox have been doing that to A Rod and Jete for years. And the end result was a Big Papi K .
03/18/2008 9:03AM
Big Papi Brushed Back
It was nice to see the mild mannered Andy Pettite giving Big Papi a bow tie in yesterdays game. Jeter was hit the inning before by Taverez and its great to see that the Yankees are protecting there captain.
03/17/2008 8:47AM
Susan Waldman
For some reason George Steinbrenner likes her. As a die hard Yankee fan the thought of having to liston to her on radio all year is depressing.
03/17/2008 8:45AM
Corey Ranson Report Card
I would take a long look at bringing this guy North. He plays lots of different positions and has a nice swing. I can see why the Yankees farm system is rated so high.
03/17/2008 8:44AM
Brett Gardner Repprt Card
If Melky cannot play first 3 games Id love to see Brett Gardner taking his place. He plays a great center field and has a great eye at plate and is a contact hitter. He will push Melky for sure.

yankees stand up for themselves reply
Yankees have to start standing up for themselves. This goes back to days when Pedro used to use Jeter and Soriano as pin cushions. NO MORE there is a new sheriff in town and his name is Girardi !!!
03/15/2008 10:20AM
Beckett is fine reply
Lower back problems do not always show up on xrays and or MRI's. He is losing valuable pitching time in spring and he would not be faking that.
03/15/2008 12:41AM
Where's Susyn Waldman?
With all of the nonsense surrounding Roger Clemens, where in the world is Susyn Waldman? Wasn't it just last year that we heard her ridiculing herself on the air about how wonderful it was to have Roger Clemens back. I wonder if she would represent him in court on the "steriods" issue. Pity, could have more unprofessional nonsense from her to laugh about. What a fool and what a bunch of losers the yankees are. Can we pencil in the Red Sox for another division title? I think so!!!!
03/14/2008 2:07PM
Joba
if Joba wants to play for the Yankees, he plays where they tell him to play. Right now the Yankees have 5 starters, Wang, Petitte, Mussina, Hughes & Kennedy. That leaves Joba as a reliever at least for this year. He will be OK no matter what he does. He's a pro.
03/14/2008 1:10PM
yankees stand up for themselves?
tired of hearing benigno and roberts say yanks will stand up to the sox now under girardi and will hit ortiz and manny since their guys always get hit. i guess they forgot about all of arods bush league slides into 2nd trying to take out pedroia or proctor and joba throwing at youk's head.
03/14/2008 11:55AM
Beckett is fine
It sounds selfish but Beckett is using the back so he doesnt have to make the trip to Japan. All tests say his back is fine. Go Sox!!!
03/13/2008 1:20PM
what does joba want?
ok, i know joba is a rook and his job is to do what the team wants him to do. i know he was a starter in collge and there is this huge debate about where is joba going to be, bullpen or as a starter. well, has anyone asked joba what he would like his role to be?
03/13/2008 9:03AM
Girardi puts fight in 08 Yankees
As we can see from the recent fight this years Yankees are not your fathers Joe Torre Yankees. This team has fight in it like there new manager.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING!
Everyone needs to stop crying about the Shelly Duncan slide. This is baseball! So he went in hard, deal with it and move on!
03/12/2008 9:47AM
Beckett bad back
Beckett said that his back hurt so bad he could not sleep. Also its so bad he may not be able to take the flight to Japan. That is not a good sign at all.

I like this move and everyone sit back and watch these kids prove all naysayers out there wrong. Sit back and watch the show.

Kennedy 14 wins 2008
Ian Kennedy is 14 wins. He's so talented. Get him 28 starts and the team will win 14 of his starts. Eventually a number 3 for us. I think we have a solid young pitcher in 2008.

With Damon in Left and Matsui being the DH you need to use Giambi as the first baseman. I agree Menkievich was a good fielder but they could not afford to carry his bat so they are going with Shelly Duncan.
03/09/2008 10:17PM
clueless cashman
why are THE NEW YORK YANKEES starting the season with three rookies and Giambi at first and not Menkiewich
03/09/2008 10:14AM
Beckett has bad back
Josh Beckett missed his start with a bad back. He has never ever been able to put two great seasons together back to back.
03/08/2008 11:46AM
It's SPRING TRAINING!
C'mon guys, take it easy. We're in Spring Training, for the love of George! Pitchers get hit around, it's a fact of baseball life. So Wang and Moose gave up some runs.........relax. Should Met fans be worried because Santana got roughed up in his first two outings? We'll be OKAY.
03/08/2008 9:14AM
Pettite and Mo look sharp
Nice to see Pettite have a nice 2 inning outing and Mo have a 123 first inning of the Spring.
03/07/2008 8:13AM
Wang 6 runs in 2/3 innings
Spring Training or not this is not a good sign.
