This team hasn't had a great
QB since Namath. They should find a way to get Favre. Case closed- Pennington can't throw the ball more than 40 yards and Clemens needs
to watch a Hall of Famer.

Gastineau/Strahan retiring
i sat with Mark Gastineau one night in the past year in a bar in my town (not going to say which town) and spoke to him about the sack record. His feeling was this , if you are going to break a record it should be done the right way , he was pissed! he felt that it should not have been broken that way. He did it the legitimate way ! he was not handed the sack he earned it. Let's see if someone comes close to Strahan's record and they get handed the last sack to beat him , and how he would react to it !. I'm sure he will feel differently being on the other end!.
It's like groovin a fastball to break the homerun record , everyone will remember how it is broken not that it WAS broken
06/27/2008 12:17PM
gholston
this man should be able to hype up the team to a point where the defense is respected around the league
it will be no "New York Sack Exchange" but it will be a step in the right direction!

he will start this season, and if that is the case then you might see someone like clemens get traded !

to"beat the chiefs": so, your saying the jets should have gone out and played their 3rd string against chiefs so as to possibly lose the game to obtain a better draft position? that idea is as absurd as your entire post
04/28/2008 10:29AM
predictable
the jest did exactly what we thought they would do
04/28/2008 9:04AM
Play At Shea This December!
The Jets should reserve Shea Stadium for their December Schedule. Lets get out of that Blue and Red Dump for one month and reclaim our old home field advantage again! The city wouldn't mind a last bit of revenue, and fans wouldn't care where they sat. It would throw Denver, Buffalo & Miami off their routine to play us at a windy, cold, loud venue like Shea is/was in the old days.
04/27/2008 2:34PM
But At Least We Beat The Chiefs
Herm is laughing all the way to the playoffs...By beating the Chiefs in a meaningless game, the Jets cost themselves a critical spot in the draft...instead of drafting 6th, we could have drafted 5th, thus being able to trade up to a QB looking Falcons team, and take McFadden from a senile Al Davis, who will now use McFadden to beat the Jets this year. Way to go Mangidiot.
04/26/2008 4:13PM
You play to win the game
All they had to do was lose the last game and they get the player that would have made a difference

as far as draft goes, im still intrigued with mcfadden, hes an explosive offensive player, and the jets need to score more points, hes my first choice, if not , i hope they take the best o-line or d-line player available

re: waited enough
um the McFadden thing has me a bit worried , remember that what happens off the field usually bleeds into their production on the field. He has TWO kids with TWO different women , and has been involved in TWO bar brawls in the past few months, at this point i would not think that New York would be the best fit for him. Send him to a smaller market where he wont be prone to go out every night to the manhattan clubs and make more of a name in the page six section of the Post then the sports section my advice....
move on !
04/19/2008 2:06PM
Waited Enough
This will be my 25th year of waiting for that one player that makes a difference...that one player that all other teams have to be afraid...that one player that defenses have to design plays to counter attack. The Giants had LT...San Diego has Ladanian...Detroit had Barry and Dallas had Emmitt. I am tired of the Jets trading down to get more talent. We usually don't find it.
DRAFT McFADDEN!!!
04/08/2008 9:41AM
mangini security
i am in agreement that it better happen fast or the wheels will come off this bus!
he has to start porving his picks were the right ones , and it better be an amazing draft day for them
i was making that statement with some sarcasm btw
04/05/2008 9:28AM
Mangini looks to the future Reply
Giving a coach a one year extension is not exactly the biggest vote of confidance. You cannot have a lame duck coach so you have to give him another year like the Giants did with Coughlin last year. To think that the Jets would not fire him and pay his 4rth year is not realistic. 2008-2009 most be the year that the Jets see marked improvement or the Mangini era will come to an abrupt end.
04/01/2008 2:20PM
magini looks to the future ...it's secure!
with the recent news of our beloved(and i use that term very freely) coach mangini being secured for the next two seasons we can all rest assured that the recent spending spree was partially due to the fact that his job was in serious jeopardy. Now we have to hope that the moves that were made we good ones, or he will be gone after 09 , along with other upper management positions. This draft better be the best one he ever has!
03/28/2008 6:15PM
ryanover mcfadden
The NFL is becoming a running game by committee league, franchise QB's are hard to find, and in my opinion Ryan is a future star, or at least better than what we have now. If Ryan is available we should take him.
03/24/2008 2:27PM
knicksjetsmets
reply to picking ryan: he is not going to help us score points at all in 08, i would rather have mcfadden, he can help right away, not only his rushing ability , but, his presence will bring the defense up and make our passing game more effective
03/24/2008 9:47AM
he works hard for the money but.....
No Question that Chad is a hard working, and very smart quarterback that will give the Jets a better chance than Clemens at the start of the season. How long will that last? , without the ability to throw the ball downfield , the secondary will sit on the short passing game and be able to move up to help stop the run , it's a double whammy.
Now Clemens might have happy feet , but getting that pocket experience will enable hime to take advantage of his mobility down the road. No question that he has a stronger arm than chad, and with a solid line now , and some key addtions he will be able to develop alot qiiucker than most expect him to.
With this in mind i think we have to be smart and give clemens the job from the start of the season.
The time is now!

My bad on jets investment in chad, i did not realize his cap hit! i thought they redid and reduced his compensation pkg?! if they dont find a taker for him, he very well could be the starter again.
03/22/2008 10:46AM
knicksjetsmets
I have decided that I would pick mcfadden at #6 if hes there, I understand there will be a nice defensive player at that spot, but, the jets have a need and that need is more offensive firepower that will result in more points scored, they were pitiful last year and we all know it.
03/21/2008 1:41PM
Chad Who 2
You know--unless we get a burner receiver in the draft, there's no need to worry about Chad's arm strength.Withe the addition of Franks--the 2 tight end formation can be potent.I read that Coles' agent has a win-win proposal for Tangini. If coles is happy, maybe he and Chad can catch lightning in a bottle again. If teh boys draft Mcfadden, most of the offense will be on the ground--and we'll be looking at 17-10 games. Not so bad if we win that way!!!
03/19/2008 9:12PM
to knicksjetsmets
besides CHAD giving the Jets chance 2 win in 08-he is a HUGE cap number this year
03/18/2008 10:13AM
fill in the coles
Let's do the right thing here ... draft our players not trade for them , i know we have not had the best success drafting top offensive producers in the past , but i thinkt hat trading our much needed picks could potentially hurt us in the long run . As for Coles, this is a man earning 11 million over the next two years, and don't forget he jumped ship last time for more money so don't think is is the most loyal player in the world. Also, this is a receiver whith whom i truely respect as one of the toughest receivers in the league, but true his true feelings are now showing and i think being on the downside of his career , you let him play out his contract then sign him to an incentive laiden contract , make these guys work for their money....not just expect it!
btw Pennington won't be able to reach cColes if he is downfield more than 20 yards so their goes any chance of him earning his paycheck
03/17/2008 11:15AM
coles?
What are the Jets doing? We have no recievers for crying outloud. Now you are going to piss off the only reciever we have? Yes Cotchery is a nice compliment but we need Coles. Sign him, trade the 6 pick and get Manningham or some other big time reciever. We need a deep threat other than Coles. Get it done.
03/17/2008 8:49AM
Trade up and get Matt Ryan
I wouod trade up with the Dolphins and get Matt Ryan from Boston College.
03/16/2008 9:53AM
Chad Who Reply
No one can question Chads loyalty,, tuffness,, and football I.Q. My only fear is his ability to complete the deep pass on 3rd and 9 against a great defense in the cold weather.
03/16/2008 12:16AM
Change OC
You know, the blame for the Jets terrible offense lay squarely on the shoulder of Mangini and Schotty. IT's as if Edwards never left nad the blame has been placed on Chad for the last two yeears.
03/14/2008 3:50PM
Chad Who???
I think sometimes we forget how many times Chad layed it on the line for this organization.Even with the broken hand and 2 major shoulder surgeries--he never whined and almost took us to the AFC championship game , no thanks to Doug Brien and "play to win the game Edwards.Lets not forget that thru all this the offensive line was most always a problem, another reason Ken O'Brien was much maligned ,getting sacked about 175 times. If Dan Marino was our QB,he wouldn't have lasted 5 years around here.I'm for giving Chad a chance behind what looks like a decent line.Clemens has happy feet.
03/13/2008 11:30AM
knicksjetsmets
chad is still around because the jets dont have a big investment in him and he gives them one of the better backups in the afc, kellen will start and i think he will play well and the jets will surprise again in 08.
03/11/2008 9:39AM
where are we going?
With the recent spending spree , the jets have created something that they have not had in years during the offseason.... BUZZ! now where this buzz will take them god only knows,
My only apprehension to this type of hype is that the Jets always find a way to NOT make it benefit them . This is a case where they will end up starting Pennington, he will finally have that pass protection that he needs, but guess what... he doesn't have the arm!. This is where i see us making the typical Jets BIG mistake and trying to fix it 6 games in when we are 2-4 and the season is on the brink of another debacle
03/11/2008 9:39AM

All of these signings are desperation moves by the Jets and Mangini and Tananbaum to save there jobs.

Yes dont forget that Belicheck had to learn what not to do at Cleveland. Ditto for Mangini with the Jets. However after Spygate and Mangenious record with Jets teams will not be lining up for his services.

Thanks Woody for the raise in ticket and parking prices. You don't own enough soap to clean up this mess known as the NY Jets.
03/10/2008 11:00AM
Not in this stint
Unfortunately, by the time Mangini really gets it--He will be coaching the Patriots. We are just a stepping stone "In The Process", to use his favorite interview answer.
03/10/2008 9:35AM
Chad
Whenever Chad faces a good team that takes away the short passing game he does not have the arm to combat that.
03/08/2008 9:04AM
Mangenious in trouble
The problem with having such a young coach is he has no experiance to help him out when things go bad. Belichick can be a jerk cause he has Brady but if Mangenius is a jerk the players just stop playing for him.

Jet Vets Should Just Shut Up And Play
All the Jet players who made the Pro Bowl last year, stand up and voice your displeasure with the current Jets spending going on. The other 51 or so of you should just shut up and earn the paychecks you are currently receiving. I figure you all mostly stole your checks last year, so you are a full year up on the club. Get out on the field, do your jobs, win more than 10 games for a change, and don't be so worried how much the guy next to you makes! Be thankful you have a job after the disgrace of last year. No one on this team can't be replaced. WE WON 4 games WITH YOU, WE CAN WIN 4 GAMES WITHOUT YOU!!!

LC
Jerry, All significant upgrades and on paper nakes this team a playoff contender if they can get some production at the QB spot. I am with you about chad. would be shocked if he isn't the starting QB opening day. The LC deal will not turn into another Kendall deal. They've been there and done that. Either Lc will get his new deal or he will be dealt by the draft. With Walker getting all that money from the Raiders it won't make it easy for the Jets. But they will get this resolved. They have too much invested in it not too. GO JETS!!!!!

my darlin Clemens it's time
I am a loyal Chad Pennington fan, he is a smart QB with a tough heart. Unfortunately without a strong throwing arm , and the fact that he has made some poor game time decisions leads me to believe that he is now losing a step , on the down side, whateveryou want to call it . It's time.. time to move on , stop looking to what he HAS done and start looking to what we HAVE to do as a team!
03/04/2008 9:49PM
michael kaye
If I have to hear kaye say that mangini is too rigid with the 3-4, trying to fit a square peg into a round hole yada yada yada. He wanted them to fit the defense to vilma. Vilma is a nice player but not versitile enough.
03/04/2008 4:26PM
Start Clemens
The Jets should start Clemens and leave past behind. Pennington never won anything -- he always plays just well enough to lose. Clemens is the future and the future is now -- enough of Chad let him go to KC where him and Herm(the one who got us where we are now) can continue mess KC up.

it looks like the jets are not convinced that kellen is the qb for 08, they may feel more comfortable with chad at the helm behind the now much improved line. I think they would have ended all speculation about the qb situation by saying kellen's the starter, they didnt, so, i dont think he will be.
03/04/2008 11:21AM
rolling stone gathers no Moss
With Moss gone (not that he would have ever entertained the thought of becoming a New York Jet)it would have been a disaster to have a man like that on the Jets !, he needs to be kept in place , and the Patriots are the only team who can accomplish that , even moss must know this!
03/04/2008 9:35AM
Randy Moss
I think Pats over paid for him. 9 million a year for 3 years 18 guaranteed is a lot of money for someone who disapears in the playoffs.

I really hope to see a concerted effort by Jets front office to upgrade the offense, they should focus on o-line and a big blocking tight end would help too. I would also like to see a big physical receiver, a reggie wayne type would be perfect. I like the defense, I think they will be fine as they are, a better offense will help them out bigtime.

Giants
Im a big jets fan who once hated the giants. Now i wish my team was more like them. Living in Tennessee this last year has really made me appreciate what the Giants seem to accomplish every 7 or 8 years. Being a jet fan is really getting old.
02/04/2008 3:19PM
Manning Offspring...
as a die hard JETS fan,i can only hope that either Peyton or Eli produce some offspring and hopefully the JETS can claim them in the delivery room with that years draft choice.Maybe the only way we get to a Superbowl again !!!
02/01/2008 9:47PM
SUNDAY- MOVIE DAY FOR JETS FANS!
Super Bowl Sunday will be MOVIE DAY for this Jets Fan. I will start with Aston Villa vs. Fulham in the am, then the Rangers at Montreal at 2pm, then a MOVIE TRIPLE FEATURE of Cloverfield, There Will Be Blood, and No Country For Old Men. Hopefully by then, that nightmare of a Cheater Bowl...er Super Bowl will be over!
01/30/2008 2:42PM
Let's go Jets
Let win the big game on Sunday.....oh that's right, the Giants are playing. Oh well they are gonna get killed anyway!
01/29/2008 3:02PM

Who To Root For ?
I've been getting a lot of HELL from friends on who to root for as a long time suffering Jets fan.
I've been alive 37 years. I just missed by 2 years being alive for the Jets in the Super Bowl, not that I would have even remembered it at that age. Now, I'm suffering and sweating it out as the Giants make their 4th Super Bowl appearance during my life time.
I can't imagine what it would be like to witness the Jets WIN the AFC Championship game, especially on a field goal in overtime to get this team to the Super Bowl. Even more, I can't imagine it being a HOME game in New Jersey and winning. Can you imagine the walk leaving the stadium and heading back to the car? I get chills just thinking about it. I've had a Mets World Series Win. I've had three Devils Stanley Cup Championship Wins. But, my sports life is incomplete without that Jets Super Bowl Win. I can't imagine how good it would feel? For 2 weeks my team would be in the paper with the big game being hyped up. Then, imagine waking up and not moving from the TV from 8:00 am until game time. The knots in the stomach. The pacing back and fourth. The cheers. The nausea. The sweaty palms. Seriously, I don't know if I could even handle it. I'd be a mess.
Obviously, the Jets are not there yet and when they have been, it's been heart break. We were close a few times. Remember the Mud Bowl? We lost 14-0 because Don Shula didn't want Freeman McNeil to run all over their asses. So, he didn't cover the field and made it impossible to run the ball. So, it forced Richard Todd to throw the ball which he did great...to the wrong team (see AJ Duhe). Then, there was the AFC Championship in Denver. We had a 10-0 lead at half-time and then mid-way through the 3rd quarter, we had a meltdown. I think we had 6 turnovers. The game quickly became an embarrassment. The feeling inside was pure nausea. Finally, there was a game in Pittsburgh. A win there, and we'd be in the AFC Championship vs. the Patriots. But, we figured out how to blow that game by becoming too conservative and trying to kick an impossible field goal on 3rd down instead of trying to move the ball closer to make it easier on the kicker. To this day, I still don't blame Doug Brien for missing the kick. That loss was all Herm Edwards not playing the odds and not properly managing the clock. So, it was heart break again.
It's been way too long since we've made the Super Bowl. The last age group to witness a Super Bowl victory was 39/40 years old and there is no way they even remember it. So, I'm saying around 7 years old, you start having sports memories. So, for arguments sake, you have to be around 47 years old to even slightly remember the Jets' Super Bowl victory over the Colts. That was EONS ago.
In this same span, now the Giants, our hated cross-town rivals, are back in the game for their 4th time. I hate the Patriots as well as they are divisional rivalries. People don't understand how I can not root for the Giants. First of all, growing up, the biggest Jets rivals were the Dolphins. No one ever gave two craps about the Patriots. The Patriots didn't become our main rivals until midway through the 90's. Secondly, how can you root for your rivals in state? Not many people understand this as not many cities have TWO teams. When you only have 1 team in your area, your arch enemy becomes your division rival. For most avid Jets fans, hating the Giants is a must. And for those people that root for both the Giants and Jets because they are local, I have one thing to tell them - PISS OFF. You are not a true fan if you root for both teams. That's just stupid so their rooting interest isn't worth listening too.
Some people have given me the argument of Division Rivals being deeper than Geographical Rivals. But, those giving me that argument come from Giants and Yankees fans. It's different for fans of those teams. Yankees have a long glorified history purchasing 26 or so championships. So, if the Mets made the World Series vs their hated divisional enemy, the Red Sox, they'd probably root for the Mets as there is nothing more hated than the Sox. However, if the Yankees were in the World Series playing the Braves (the Mets divisional rival), I'd root for the Braves as the history is not as strong of a rival as Yankees / Red Sox. Plus, I hate the Yankees more than any other baseball team. They've won so many World Series that no one but Yankees fans would EVER root for them. Same applies to football. The Giants are the Jets geographical rivals. Giants have now made their 4th Super Bowl and have a history of championships before the Super Bowl ever began. If the Jets were to EVER make the Super Bowl against the Cowboys, the same applies for Giants fans. The history vs the Cowboys is so much stronger and has so much more hatred than a Jets / Patriots rivalry which, in terms of NFL History, is pretty new. So, Giants fans would root for the Jets to beat the Cowboys and would bother them less than the Cowboys winning another Super Bowl. This is why the Patriots better destroy the Giants.
Come on. The Giants aren't a great team. Hell...they've had a hell of a year winning all of these road games. And it makes it worse that they are in the Super Bowl after what Strahan pulled in training camp to now be rewarded with a Super Bowl appearance. Eli is a weak QB. He's made it through the play-offs playing all of the other WEAK NFC opponents as you have to play someone...right? The Bucs didn't even have a better record than the Giants but won their division to have home field advantage. I don't think the Bucs even deserved to be in the play-offs. Then, there was the Cowboys who have been NFC choke artists for 7 years. Tony Romo takes a Mexican vacation with his girlfriend a few days before the biggest game of his life and played like he was still on vacation. Now, the Giants take on the Packers who played above their heads all year. And, Farve makes his typical HUGE interception with the game on the line. Crap...all of a sudden, the Giants are in the Super Bowl.
Bring on the Patriots. Yes, the Giants played the Patriots closer than any other team in the NFL but still lost. The game was meaningless. Yeah, it was nice for the Patriots to try and get to 16-0 but again, the game was meaningless. I'm not convinced they played 100% but instead, played to get by. This team is now focused on making history, trying to become the league's first 19-0 perfect season. And I don't see those Big Blue fags getting in their way. I actually think this game could be like the Super Bowls growing up - Ugly and Over by half-time.
Yes, it definitely sucks that the Giants are in the Super Bowl and I'm quite jealous since I've never been in that position, but when the Jets ever do get there (knock on wood), I hope they don't run into a team of destiny.
Kevin "Bird" Harrison

Football 101...Woody, pay attention!
Hey Woody...just a few things you should look into with your hobby..er...team for next year.
1. Hire an established Asst. Coach for Mangini. Someone to smack im in the ear if he tries one of those dopet Brad Smith plays that end up in disaster all the time.
2. Trade up in the draft and get either McFadden or Howie Long's kid. Everyone else is a crapshoot.
3.Get the best FA players on the market. You only buy the best for the Mansion & the Townhouse...why skimp here.
4. Move to Shea for home games 5-8. Its the only home field we will ever have in the next 100 yrs.
5. When its 4th & 1 on the 50 or better...GO FOR IT!!
01/26/2008 6:42PM
Talent Upstairs
Great teams start with great talent in the booth. Right now there is tremendous talent available...but that's what makes the difference between a Robert Kraft & Daniel Snyder and Woody " I'd rather go watch Polo" Johnson.
01/24/2008 1:57PM
When are the Jets going to dish out the cash!!!
I am a diehard jets fan and over the years it has come to my attention that the Jets do ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING!!! with free agents and untill they start to go after top talent instead of trying to get bargains they will continue to bow down to the Pats.
01/24/2008 12:09PM
Why did I pick the JETS as my team?
Of course the GAINTS will go to the SUPER BOWL..again...and we the JETS, are STILL trying to at least finish with a 500 record with the so called genius Mangini. It doesn't matter who coaches the JETS. The JETS are CURSED! Why did I pick the JETS asmy team when I was a kid!?
01/24/2008 12:18AM
Asterisk
The asterisk is there for one simple reason...they cheated. I'm sure they have tapes on every team over the last four years.
01/23/2008 1:22PM
Jets true home field
I agree with the post on 1/20/08. The Washington Nationals did it with RFK Stadium. Would be nice to the Jets at Shea Stadium. It is still amazing how the Jets and the Giants still hold the New York in their names. To be honest they should be called the NJ Jets & NJ Giants. Just like the Dodgers left in 1958 and changed to the LA Dodgers. It is about time that the area football teams do so. Why Staten Island was not considered for the Jets is beyond me. Nascar was considered, and this area is a Football Town. Wake up owners.
01/23/2008 1:07AM
It's the talent stupid
The Jets need O line help How about some players from this years playoff teams like Fabini, Kendall, Mawai and Kyle Brady?
01/22/2008 3:50PM
The *
The Jets were boring, the Yankees were caught doing drugs over the last few years, the Knicks and nets stink, so why doesn't the NY Post put *s next to their names. The Patriots are going for perfection, are entertaining, and are on the way to the Big Game, so why can't the Post handle that. It isn't like they are a real newspaper.
01/21/2008 6:53PM
Going to the Movies
The Freakin Eli Manning led Giants vs. that troll Belickek's New England Patriots!!! As a Jets fan, this is the worst possible Super Bowl matchup since they started this game! I for one will be going to the movies on Supe Sunday. Maybe a double feature.Yuuuuch!
01/20/2008 11:02AM
Jets True Home Field
What would it take for the Jets to play a few home games next year at Shea? The Mets will be done by the end of October...just in time for some real home field advantage at Shea. Can you see Miami and New England or Buffalo coming in to play the Jets with the swirling winds? We don't have a deep throwing QB anyway, so it would not hurt the Jets much. It would sure hurt Brady more! Lets close Shea the right way...with 4 Jets Home games at Shea! 40,000 Long Island season ticket holders wouldn't mind. I,m from NJ, and I wouldn't mind taking the 7 over to Flushing for the last few times. C'mon Woody...make it happen. It can't be worse than that God awful Meadowlands dump we have to drive to week after week. In fact, the parking would be an improvement!
01/19/2008 12:35PM
Hey Woody, It's the Talent Stupid!
So we signed Callahan to boost our front Off. line. Great! We don't have anyone calling plays to take advantage of that fact! Schottenfootheimer is severely out of his league! How many times, Jets fans, have we heard "We knew what was coming" from opposing defensive teams after losses. That's HORRIBLE!! There are great FOOTBALL MINDS AVAILABLE,...Mike Martz, Dick Vermeil, Brian Billick, Weseley Walker, Joe Klecko, ...GET THEM IN THE BOOTH AND ON THE FIELD!!! After almost 50 years its time to get this team into the 21st century! Woody, we need great FOOTBALL MINDS to run this ballclub. Its not a class project, its a $1 billion dollar business. You would not entrust Johnson & Johnson with less than the best talent available, then why don't the Jets have the best talent available? We should have the best money can buy up in the booth, and on the sidelines! Spend some of that new luxury suite money that is coming your way and make Sunday afternoons mean something again for Jets Fans. If not, give Trump a call. He knows what it is like being the best.
01/07/2008 5:01PM
Prove it to me, Woody.
Marion Barber III, Randy Moss, Bernard Berrian, Alan Faneca, Flozell Adams, Sean Locklear, Albert Haynesworth...those are just a few of the Free Agents available this year, and with 26 million available under the cap, as a Season Ticket holder, I better see some of these players in green & white, Woody. I better see some of the best damn players in the NFL playing for the Jets, or I will take my season tix and sell them to visiting team fans. How about 40,000 Dolphins fans in the Meadowlands? How about 50,000 Patriots fans coming down from Boston? Have you had enough Jets fans. Let Woody know this Same Old Jets crap will not fly anymore. In four weeks the Jets will ask for my money for 2008! I say.." Who are you going toget with my money, Woody?". More Jets fans have to start making their wishes known by not going, or better yet...sell your tix to opposing fans.45,000 Steelers fans sure got their attention last year, didn't it? I had better see some All Pro football players wearing green & white next year or this is one fan ( 4 seats) who will be mighty generous to visiting fans.
01/07/2008 10:48AM
Jets Fans Wake Up (redux)
So Schotten(foot)heimer is interviewing for the Ravens job? GREAT!!! Hope he gets it! Mike Martz is still out there..unless Atlanta snatches him up. WAKE UP WOODY!!!Fly in from Switzerland or Gstaad or Monaco or whever you spend your time and direct your Mangenius employees to get on the stick and call Mike Martz!! While you were partying on the French Riviera, the Jets blew 3 important draft spots and beat Herm in the Stupid Bowl. Get a grip on your team (investment) and shake things up in Hempstead! We will probably draft another OL! We have been waiting for a Championship for longer than the KNICKS!! Woody...aren't you embarrassed already??? The other owners have got to be snickering behind your back. The Jets need PLAYMAKERS!!! Why should the go to Miami or Seattle or Dallas? This is New York! NY Jets fans deserve THE BEST. We have dutifully FILLED YOUR STADIUMS for years!! Wake up Woody and demand the best from your coaches or get rid of them!
01/02/2008 10:13AM
Jets Fans Wake Up ( Really)
Why are the Jets not looking at Mike Martz for the O Coordinator job? We have a QB that throws 15 yd passes and 5 WR's under 6' tall. Here is the guy who wrote the book on utilizing players like that. All we get from Schottenheimer are fades in the end zone ( you need a 6'5" wr) or option plays ( will Brad Smith EVER complete a pass?)!!! We don't have the personnel for those calls! Get Martz now! This team shot itself in the foot AGAIN by winning a meaningless KC game which cost us McFadden. These mistakes can't be tolerated anymore. The Dolphins and the Bills will be much improved next year. How about the Jets? No playmaker will now be coming from the draft at the 6th spot. Get Martz now, so if Mangini does not work out in 08, then we have a proven winner in Martz to step in. Wake up Woody. Get off the polo fields and pay attention to what is going on with your team!! Get Martz now! Enough of 9 yard drives then punt! Iv'e seen enough!!
12/28/2007 8:54AM
Cotchery TD
Cotchery caught the TD vs the titans not Baker.
12/28/2007 12:11AM
They better lose this game
Mangini better make sure they lose this game and wind up with chance to draft either McFadden or Chris Long. Id be willing to bet he understands the importance of losing this weekend and starts Pennington(who is terrible).
12/22/2007 1:54PM
be careful of the dolphins...
just recently Bill Parcells was put in charge of their Football Operations... next he will chose the GM(beancounter with football talent savvy) Tannebaum or Nix(SD) would head the list, then choose a Coach- Tice- with Mike Shula(Off Coor) and Pep Johnson(Def Coor) would do, but look out if Jeff Fischer is avail at year end... Outside chance for Wade Wilson or Jason Garrett... AND ALL THIS MAENS- Jets will start losing to both Pats and Fins in the future... be very careful, since Parcells has never NOT FIXED a franchise.. fyi
12/21/2007 10:58PM
namath
joe willie got his degree. clemeons will never have a grasp on the game like chad does. chad will never win a superbowl and the jets need another qb asap. no one could throw like broadway joe!
12/21/2007 7:06PM
Any "Chansi" Stuckey plays before season ends?
I would really like to see Chansi Stuckey get in a game if he is able to this season.
12/19/2007 12:55PM
roughing the QB
I don't know who BB in New england is paying off, but if one of the jets hit tom brady like the hit on Clemmens you know there would have been a flag from every official in that stadium calling the jets for roughing the passer. Last year the jets hit tom brady half as hard and they were called twice
12/19/2007 10:15AM
Recco and Suzy Waldmen
2 peas in a pod when it comes to the teams the cover!!
12/18/2007 5:00PM
Jerry Jerry Jerry
At least you stopped with the name calling. But all they could handle. Brady looked like he couldn't care less if he won be 10 or 100. With the weather the way it was, the Pats clearly exerted only as much energy as they needed to win which wasn't much. If the punter fields the snap clean then the score is 20-3.
12/18/2007 3:45PM
Jets
Almost beat one of the regular season teams...oh, please, New England almost lost one sleep walking through one of the worst teams in the league
12/18/2007 8:47AM
Perspective
Jets gave all the Pats could handle? They scored 3 offensive points. Please!
12/18/2007 3:45AM
Jets Fans Wake Up
If you actually claim to be a long time Jets fan and dont see the progress this team is making, your not paying attention. The Jets almost beat one of the greatest regular season teams of all time without any offense at all. Mangini had the team play as hard as they could and Tannenbaum is an elite general manager. Have patience, The Jets are a good offseason away from challenging The Patriots for the division next year and every year after. Mangini and Tannenbaum are going to become Paoli and Belichik. Take my word. History will prove me correct.
12/17/2007 3:43PM
Mangini
I know this is only his 2nd year, but I am tired of him thinking he can re-invent the wheel. Case in point yesterday with Brad Smith. The option play worked once with Smith pitching to Washington. Do not keep going back to it. I like going for it on 4th and 2, but put in a pro QB, not a gimick player like Smith. There is a reason why guys like Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch could not make it as pro QBs and that is because the option does not work. Also, stop trying to think that you can have a guy learn a new position on a pro level.
12/17/2007 12:36PM
Take the cap hit
Justin Mccarrens should be CUT TODAY,he has STONE HANDS. Rich Caster re-born, what a DISGRACE!
12/16/2007 4:08PM
PLEASE FIRE THE SAPP
I BEING A JETS FAN FOR YEARS IS ABOUT TO FINALLY GIVE UP ON THE GREEN AND WHITE...THE JETS LOST AGAIN TO THE PATS AND THE QUESTION THAT I HAVE IS WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET A COACH WHO HAS A PAIR BETWEEN HIS LEGS...IF I WAS COACH OF THE JETS I WOULD OF PUT A HIT ON BRADY AFTER THE NE TOOK OUT CLEMENS OUT ON THE 1ST PLAY OF THE GAME...WITH OUT A DOUGHT THIS WOULD OF BEEN BRADYS LAST GAME AS QB OF THE PATS WITH A PERM KNEE DAMAGE...GO JETS YOU GUYS NEVER SEEM TO FAIL ME NO MATTER WHAT ...PLEASE LEON HESS COME BACK FROM THE GRAVE AND START HELPING OUT THIS TEAM WHICH WOODY JOHNSON SEEMS LIKE HE CANT DO IN THE LIVING....
12/16/2007 11:48AM
Typical New Yorker?
A Pats fan bring up performance enhancing drugs? Be careful with Harrison and Brady (linked to Balco) on NE.
12/15/2007 7:59PM
going nowhere fast
as a 25 yr season ticket holder i`m giving them up. jets are going nowhere fast not now or anytime soon. no talent will bring no superbowls. as we have said in the past same old jets
12/15/2007 2:33AM
Who
Let's see? He ooached one of the greatest defenses in NFL history: The NY Giants. No one would have ever heard of Eric Mangini if he believed in him enough to give the kid a chance. Either you are talking about someone else or have eaten so many sour grapes your brain malfunctioned
12/14/2007 9:31AM
response
I am a pats fan but if you read this you really see why you are writing it as a last ditch effort to save face for the Jets. Forget the fact that Belichick recorded some footage. It did not make one difference in the outcome of the game and everyone of football knowledge knows that. For that matter they could give a fan a camera and say film this please and no one knows. It's not a secret plot.
Simply stated, Mangini has done a terrible job and the Jets fans including you do not want to recongnize that fact. it hurts because Belechick was once yours and he left your organization because they did not have the vision and backing that he now has.
Get off the soap box and just look at your team and its shortcomings and your essays will be on what they should be which is why the Jets are so bad and not on the same level as the ellite teams of the league
12/14/2007 3:02AM
Move On
JR, the Patriots have won 11 out of 13 against your pathetic Jets, and there's nothing your joke of an article can do about that.
12/13/2007 6:06PM
Bill Belichick
Last year when Bill Belichick thru down a camera man before he hugged Mangenious tells you everything you have to know about the man. He is a phoney. Unfortunatly he is a great football coach as well.
12/13/2007 5:49PM
shawn rogers!!!!!!!!!!!!
the lions want too get him off to another team. Jet give them vilma for rogers. de rob at end coleman and rogers dt. front three fix nobody gets hurt done deal.
12/13/2007 4:59PM
Recco-You just don't get it
BB is a football coach, not a politician. His focus is X's and O's, not B.S. You want a smooth talker, go see Bill Clinton. At least Belichick lays it on the line, he just doesn't want to give fools like you an opening to expolit simple comments.
12/13/2007 4:01PM
Recco Blog BB
Mr. Recco you are a typical New Yorker with sour grapes because BB left NY Jets for Pats. What would have written if BB was Jets coach. And what about all those World series won by Yankees with guys on steroids? Do you feel that your guys cheated?
12/13/2007 3:33PM
Why should Bill play nice?
Why, exactly, should BB be "courteous to the media"? At last count, his name has been bastardized 693 times by the Fourth Estate, including the decidedly unclever "Big Bad Bill Belichick"...
12/13/2007 2:59PM
total lack of objectivity
I suppose you can write this kind of nonesense for the Daily News but if you want to be taken seriously, you should try thinking before you post. I cul just hear what you would say of this was the other way around. You should play for the team becausethier responses and play this year indicate they don't buy it. They desperately need someone as gullible as you
12/13/2007 10:41AM
my old boss
my old boss had some bad ethics but i would not rat him out now that i am the boss i would think the men i hire train and trust would do the same . now to learn my old employe is doing the same yet turing me in is an outrage.
12/13/2007 10:25AM
More sour grapes
This piece reeked of sour grapes and whining and downright jealousy. BB doesn't owe you anything, and think about it why would have anything but disdain over the NY media... "BB was boring and rude" sounds like it was written by a 11yr old girl...
12/13/2007 9:15AM
Whose Boring and Rude?
"Big Bad Bill Belichick during his conference call with the NY media was flooded with questions about 'spygate' and his relationship with Eric Mangini. Once again, Belichick was boring and rude, refusing to comment about any of it. In fairness, Mangini is the same way but at least Mangini is courteous to the media. B4 (Big Bad Bill Belichick) just flat-out acts like a jerk."
So Bill acts like most of the Media types, and it's bad but when you ask the same question over and over again knowing you aren't going to get an answer, it's ok?
12/12/2007 7:09PM
Gimme a Break
Belichick gave Mangini his career. Mangini is not some hapless victim. He did the same things in NE. He ratted Belichick for his own motives. Also lets not be as nieve to think that NE was the only team to do such tactics. As J Johnson stated, this is common practice. Johnson himself was taught by one of the current Colt's coordinators.
12/12/2007 6:46PM
39 Year Drought
Why JR really dislikes BB
12/12/2007 5:38PM
Sorry Losers!
The Pats are the best so just shut up and quit crying.
12/12/2007 5:10PM
LEft something out
The PAts may have kicke dtehm out but tey did not turn them in. You may not tink taht that distinction is important but you should not leave it out just to support your argument
12/12/2007 5:00PM
Recco, another disgruntled name-caller.
Jerry, I always thought you were fair and somewhat smarter that this little attack on "Big Bad Bill" as you call him. Your rant reminds me of the jealous Yankee posts I read day after day. Thanks for proving to me your just like the rest. Good luck bro.
12/12/2007 1:13PM
Mangenius
So, the Mangenius was caught spying. Now the Pats didn't turn in Mangenius to the NFL. Sooo, as we see again those that yell the loudest are usually just as guilty
12/12/2007 8:36AM
R. A. T. S.
i live in boston, a ny fan...
sick of hearing boston radio stations chant r.a.t.s. rats rats rats.
jets better be ready for hell on sunday....hope jets kill pats.

chad
am i the only one that wants to see chad sun vs pats and try to knockem off i think clemens will get killed any1 agree?
12/11/2007 7:08AM
Why the 2 coaches do not get along
Sports people in Boston are saying it is not about "Spy gate" as they did not get along way before that. Try the fact he tried to take the Parriots def play book with him when he left.
12/10/2007 9:20PM
snow on sunday in NE
could be a major nor'easter on sunday..jets may have a chance after all
12/10/2007 8:57AM
Can the Jets be anymore boring
At least the Dolphins are going for a perfect record and the number One pick. The jets are just a boring team with a boring coach playing out the schedule. What happened to Mangenious ?
12/10/2007 8:02AM
BOX LOGIC?
Score a TD go for 2 miss....onside kick...recover...go for Fieladgoal....try another onside kick....I have heard this LOGIC many times over the years but it has always been at a SUPERBOWL PARTY and orated by a guy who had a tad too many and is trying to figure out how to make his "SUPERBOWL BOX" pay off. The JESTS should of went for the TD or 1st down on 4th....if they failed the Browns would of been deep and the JESTS would of had a second shot wit reasonable field position...I actually think I heard the whole city of Cleveland say "What the F..." well that Football Jets style just when ya think ya know whats going on.....they blindside you...No suprise if Pennington starts Sunday....and I am still waiting for the offical announcement that Rich Kotite has been fired (Jets never officially announced that)
12/09/2007 10:18PM
world strongest man
why don't the jet's go to europe and bring back a 400lbs strong man for DT. man-idiot got a rugby kicker why not a DT.
12/09/2007 7:13PM
Will He????
Can Tim Tebow be the answer to replace Chad Pennington. It looks like "Brooks" Clemens doesn't have the lock on the job so far...

Right on the money
Give credit where credit is due. You had this game figured out. Reminds me of the crazy bet I made back in January '69. Bet $20 even money on the Jets vs. the Colts in Supe III.

Recco, you are as gracious a winner as Bill Belichick. Yeah we knew Dolphins stunk, but so do the Jets. couldn't foresee 6 turnovers. Jets really should have scored 60. There offesnive line is still very offensive.

Recco, i agree that the dolphins can't score points. but what makes you think the jets are going to score 20? Laying 19 the Jets are entering the game down 19-0. are you confident in the Jets staging a 20 point comeback on anyone? Your wager is nuts

Rose off of Mangenius
The rose is defenitly off the Mangenius. He comes across now as a spoiled kid who has always had his way and will not change for anyone. I hope they do not renew his contract.

Revis
I agreed with you that Revis played well. I know you don't like T.O., there's a flaw in your reasoning about when he caught his touchdown. You said that the game was over he caught his touchdown, well the game had basically over at half(max.) or evenearlier.

Looking for a paper bag
I'm ashamed to say I am a Jets fan. What a disaster. From top to bottom.

Big Guy
Manginus should never have ratted out the Pats.

Annoyed!
First of all let me just say that as a long time Jets fan and season ticket holder, I am disgusted by the so called fans that disgraced themselves with this whole gate D crap. Stop being such morons and grow up! Second of all, I am sick and tired of everyone knocking Mangini by calling him an idiot. He is a good coach and will need time to grow and rebuild this team from the disgrace that Hermy Edwards left here. Mangini has proven that he can win and given some time and some better personnel, this team will flurish. I agree with FED-UP whole heartedly and wish that everyone, including Craig Carton and Joe B, would wake up and smell the roses. The Jets need to give their coach a chance. Look at the Steelers, they have only had 3 coaches in their history....and look as their success, the Jets have a young, smart, talented young guy at the helm and need to just leave him alone and let him coach. And I agree with the other guy about tradition...th
