Time for Frank to go
The time has come for Rod Thornn to dismiss Lawrence Frank. The guy does not maximize the talent on the roster and rookies. Sean Williams was starting to develop into one of the better players and just because he has a few bad games you stick him in the doghouse along with Marcus Williams. Trading Jason Kidd is going to put a curse on this franchise as when Dr. J was 30 plus years ago. The Mavericks first struggled when Kidd came on board but as the team got more comfortable with him the team went on a run, finished with 50 wins and made the playoffs. On the other hand, the Nets went into tailspin and finished 14 games under .500. I get the feeling the team tunes Frank out when he is coaching and yealling out instructions. We need a breath of fresh air and someone who is going to light a fire under these players who make millions of dollars. The player who should have been traded is Vince Carter who is a shell of himself along with bad knees and ankles. Furthermore, Nets management has to keep Nene Kristic in the fold since he is only 24 or 25 and come back from serious knee injury. You need a big man in the middle.

Kidd
Did anyone report how he was a wife beater.

Evan Clueless Reply
Yea Evan bashed Eli Manning and Giants all year. He is clueless but for some reason WFAN thinks he is the wonderboy.

Rod Thorn
Hey this so called genius has to take some of the blame for this franchise.
03/10/2008 9:42AM
Good Riddance Reply
He not only quit this year but quit on Byron Scott and got him fired. He is a Big Baby.

I agree totally with your evaluation of Evan. Great Sound Off !
03/05/2008 11:36PM
evan = clueless
c'mon now what do you know about the NBa? your a Net fan who up till about 6 weeks ago you still thought they had a chance at a conference finals. You jump around with opinions every single week. Not only in basketball but in all sports. It's flavor ofthe month with you. Stop even making predections and opinions that are out of touch with reality.
03/05/2008 11:20AM
Wizards
The Wizards beat the Hornets twice recently without Butler and should make the playoffs with Arenas targeting a March 25th comeback. The team has played good enough defenses ranking 6th in the East in point per pagme given up to make a run.

Evan=wrong
Evan i am still looking at your blog from the beginning of the NBA season when you said the Celtics would NOT win the Atlantic Division...good call!

jets qb
i think its unfair to try and judge k clemens behind a poruous o-line.chad was comeback player 2 years ago.but he looked horrible at times behind that line.also brady took abeating in the sb and looked average at best. how do you think it was for k clemens a virtual rookie, taking that kind of pounding on aweekly basis. thanks
03/01/2008 10:54AM
Good Riddance
Jason did not want to be here anymore. In short, he quit on the organization. I actually think they are better off. Harris may not be a better overall talent, but he fits better with Richard Jefferson and VC
02/27/2008 3:27PM
miss kidd
will miss his drive, but let's move on now!
02/21/2008 2:04AM
DONE!
Now that Kidd is gone and the new addition will the Nets be BETTER??????
02/20/2008 8:42PM
men and mice
there are men in the world and there are mice j-kidd should have been a man and stick out his contract a play hard ALL the time, but he choose to be a mouse and run
02/20/2008 2:30AM
Evan's Letter
Good summary of Kidd's time in New Jersey. Those first two years were great as the Nets were the most entertaining teams in the NBA. The last few years we have seen wy Kidd has moved around as much as he has.
02/20/2008 12:12AM
Evan and people like him
They know squat! they are born losers! anyone who is a net, met , and jet fan is not only a loser but should have the head examioned for how much sports knowledge they have if they support franchises like that.

evan is exactly right. not the best ending, but overall, Kidd gave nj nets fans lots of thrills, and put the team on the map

so long Jason. Take your over-rated, subpar shooting game with you. Carter must go ! The guy never met a (BAD) shot he didn't like. Get some young talent in here that'll play team ball.

I see where you're coming from on the Shaq trade. But the fact is that Marion wanted out of Phoenix -- the Suns could've done worse. Plus they needed a big man to hold down Tim Duncan (whether or not Shaq will perform in this area is to be determined)
02/13/2008 6:24PM
GM Wannabe
Dolan has such a bad reputation for eneptitude that no good coach would work for him. FIre Isiah, pray someone like Stan VanGundy will come and let those bloated contracts expire!
02/13/2008 4:39PM
Carter Next
Now that Kidd is gone Carter has to be next. Two possible trades: 1. Carter and Marcus Williams to the Heat for Jason Williams and Ricky Davis (both expiring contracts)2. Carter to Magic for Tony Battie, Kenyon Dooling and Pat Garrity (Dooling and Garrity expiring contracts)
01/31/2008 5:13AM

how about fire frank and hire jeff van gundy? is it possible?
01/30/2008 2:43PM
Good riddance J Kidd
Get rid of him so he can beat his wife in another state. He's a loser.
01/29/2008 8:53PM
The Dolans
Do the Nets have any Dolans on the Board???????
01/28/2008 11:02AM
What?
Step1: Its the Nets, Noone Cares Step2: Learn How to Write, and who did your father know? How did you get this job?
01/24/2008 4:33PM
It is all economic
Nets don't want to pay Larry Brown or anyone else to maintain a team that is not going to win a championship. They should try to get a Mark Jackson, who will add a new prospective without the major price tag. Remember it is not worth it to bring in Larry if you don't have the players.
01/24/2008 3:41PM
Its the East
Don't blow up the Nets, fire the coach. Wait for kristic and I think they can be the third best team and as last year showed anyone can come out of the east. Pistons are not reliable in the playoffs, the Celts must remain injury-free, so the Nets are not far behind as ugly as it looks. And why blow the team up, try to win one for NJ, they are one trade away...also they must dominate the NY scene, can't let the Knicks get a foothold. Don't blow it up.
01/23/2008 1:48AM

It's impossible to believe, but Screech is as bad a writer as he is on the air. PATHETIC!

PLOTS..SUBPLOTS?
This a race for the Lottery between NY an NJ???
01/18/2008 12:59PM
Zach Was Not a Bad Trade
Zach's influence on this team is no worse than Stevie Franchise's. If the Knicks get a new coach, Zach can be a productive member of this team.
01/18/2008 11:13AM
Evan, Stay with your NETS
One of the worst thing for a sport analyst is to analyst a sport that he has no idea of, a team that he has no love on. The bottom line is that Isiah did a bad job on some trades, but like Carl said, the players must take more fall.
01/17/2008 3:37PM

Nets Error?
Joining the NBA.
01/16/2008 4:02PM
Get Rid ot Thomas
I would start off by getting rid of Thomas! Then we can build a team what a failure in the biggest market for sports.
01/16/2008 9:43AM
Evan, You're Wrong
The start of it all was when the Dolan's bought the team.
01/15/2008 5:15PM
Major overhaul
The first the knicks must to is sell the franchise to someone with dignity and respect for themselves and the organization. 2nd think you do is dump Isiah ASAP. 3rd is dump marbury and the rest of the team ASAP. Finally, build the organization from top to bottom. Utilize the draft and build that way.
01/15/2008 1:56PM
start over
start by getting rid of marburry, draft good players, get rid of most of the players and rebuild one piece at a time.
01/11/2008 9:38AM
Nets leaving NJ
Ever since the NETS announced they wanted out of NJ I lost all modivation to support the organization and not go to the game. I'll watch them on TV but that's it. Now the plan has stalled and laugh because now I want them out for even thinking of leaving. Over all the NBA has changes since the late 60's when I was a big Knicks fan. The players, coaching and general primadonna attitude is killng this great sport. Lack of discipline and respect to down the tubes. See ya NETS. Bring on College Ball. G. Klewsaat
01/04/2008 6:29PM
SJ Netfan
Since the departure of Byron Scott I've been waiting for evidence of some improvement or value added with the hiring of Lawrence Frank. Scott took his teams to consecutive final appearances. His protegy, Stanky Franky has barely made the playoffs. With mediocre records he's offered a contract extension. It makes no sense to me. He's never even played the game on professional or collegiant levels. What does he ad to the conversation when other coaches recall their most memorable moments as players? This in part explains to me why many coaches coach hard against him and refuse to extend satisfaction when they find themselves losing to him. Stanky-Frankie must go! Stanky-Frankie must go!
01/02/2008 6:47PM

NBA needs help!!
I used to love the NBA. There was Michael, Larry, Magic, and others. There were all those great teams. With too much expansion and players making too much money the league has become a joke. These players don't care about the team. It's obvious. They take stupid shots etc. The college game is so much better. It's not just the Knicks. Although they are pathetic and the axis of stupidity must go.
12/30/2007 2:00PM
C'mon, Evan
Stephan Marbury is a talented but self centered point guard. Before the knicks signed him, I looked at his stat page and realized he usually gets traded by year 3, for better players. I was wondering what has taken so long. There's alot of blame to go around for this team. There are alot of reasons to point the finger. But c'mon Evan, to base the bulk of your article on Marbury "ng his bereavement leave as his way to avoid playing for the Knicks" is a cheap shot. You can't equate your emotional content with someone else's, it's just non-negotiable. And, unlike most of us, he can't afford to piddle through his work day and get paid for it. He gets paid to perform against other individuals that are physically trying to stop him from doing his job. Blame him for everything else, but leave his family out of it.
12/30/2007 3:46AM
Hawthorne Wingo
Jimmy, I think you're the one who needs to do his homework. Marbury's teams all get better when he leaves. The Knicks need to get better. Ergo, Marbury must leave.
12/28/2007 4:02PM
Mimangu
Hey...Isiah did not want to coach the team, remember that first. Also if the true center was active and playing or a least clogging the middle. We would not be discussing all this BS about the team.
12/27/2007 9:25AM
Marbury is the key to this Knicks Failure!!!
You can't have a NEGATIVE HUMAN BEING running your point. He will only lead you to failure. Of course Stephon is only following his leader Isiah. And Isiah is following his lead Jimmy Dolan. Failure follows failure!!!!
12/20/2007 12:22PM
Jimmy
Evan...Learn basketball, man. Marbury is the key to this Knicks team. Do your homework regarding Stephon when he scores over 20 over the last 3 years.
12/19/2007 2:03PM
Evan's and MisQ-Rich
What a joke, Evan. misQ-Rich the key? LMFAO. Here is the real stat. When Marbury has a full roster and scores over 20 a game, the Knicks are over .500 the last 3 years. Take a look and realize that the best players should shoot the ball. Zach and Marburyshould be shooting the ball a lot. Everyone else needs to play subservient roles and if they can't, replace them with guys who CAN! MisQ-Rich is a catastrophe. He can't guard me out there. Most overrated defender the Knicks have ever had.
12/16/2007 3:24PM
Fire frank
Oficially the worst coach in the area. How long is this guy going to get a free ride? Hope he sends a nice gift to Isiah this Holiday to thank him for taking the heat he should be getting. The Nets are not just a dissapointment they are an embarassment

nice to have the answers to eveything when you sit on your rearend for three hours everyday?
12/13/2007 4:46PM
Do you dribble when you type?
Are you being slick calling the column a "dribble" of a blog when it is about basketball or do you really mean drivel? Bob Sheppard would faint dead away....
12/13/2007 1:15PM
I HATE ISIAH
Hardcore knicks fan for over 25 years who never miss a game, over the past 1 1/2 seasons I have watched all of one game, this year agianst Denver, when they actually looked like a fun and exciting 45 win team, them game the Wadeless Heat, have we won a game since? Isiah you stink, Dolan you stink, and everybody with the exception of a david lee or a ronaldo backman all stink as well.
12/13/2007 1:11PM
the NBA is a lousy product
the knicks are just another example of this crap product. no intensity...no defense... just a bunch of over paid tattooed thugs. the NCAA product is so much better. "the league" has revered back to the early 70s (and we'll soon see the same empty seats that we saw back then).
12/13/2007 12:51PM
Defense???
Why has it taken so long for you all to notice that they don't play defense? And why can't a coach who played so hard every night and each play not instill that into his players? Because they were his players. They (minus Marbury) gave up on him when he gave them a vote to bench or play Steph and then ignored it. I have defended him at every pass. That was his last straw.
12/13/2007 11:18AM
DFINK
The knicks of Ewing, Oakley, Starks, Mason, Derek Harper, even Charlie Ward wouldn't have let this happen. Team D-Fense is what it's all about.
12/13/2007 8:46AM
How about your Nets? Evan!
yea you hit it right on the head about Isiah, but how about your "little general" he aint doing to good either?!
12/13/2007 5:43AM
Baaaaad
This is the most emabarrasing time for a team, in any sport, that I have ever seen. It's almost as if the Garden is paying peek a boo, I can't see you.

Evan, can you get Thorn on the air and ask him how much longer we have to watch Lawrence Frank before he breaks up the team lets try a new coach.
12/12/2007 5:45PM
Reason for the Excuses
Anyone that's in his position would say the same things. Do you want him to just say he's a horrible coach and should be fired. Its part of his job to make things seem better than they are.
12/12/2007 5:10PM
Resume
How can you even hire the guy if you look at his past "job experience". It's like if I went on an interview told them I take a 2hr liquid lunch break everyday and have a history of stealing office supplies. And they still hired me.
12/12/2007 3:57PM
The Reality
Incompetent owner, coach, weak players, fans who deserve better and are rightly upset. Perhaps someday we get better but not until the mentality changes to one of accountability.
12/12/2007 3:51PM
re: eddie house
Are you watching eddie house this year. He's hit plenty of shots and his defense has helped the Celts win a couple of games (ie vs. Charlotte)
12/12/2007 3:03PM
Relax
Evan: relax, he will be gone soon. Write about something we care about
12/12/2007 3:01PM
NBA and NFL
Both Leagues are a disgrace and hard to watch. Bring back the "old" days or better yet leave the Garden empty and you'll see how fast things change!
12/12/2007 1:45PM
reading this "dribble"...
Don't you mean "drivel" (not "dribble")? Or were you trying to make a funny?
12/11/2007 11:32AM
eddie house
cannot hit a shot in a big spot or when someone is in his face, barelt hits when wide open cant run an offense and is a terrible defender

Fire Lawrence Frank
This guy has been an under achiever constantly. Time to get rid of him.
11/18/2007 9:39AM
NO OFFENSE
How bad is the Nets offense? Every year they need a shooter, but never get one. So they let Eddie House go to Boston, what a joke. Lawrence Frank will not last the year. Jason Kidd, Jefferson and Carter, lose every night? Rod Thorne will not tolerate it.Maybe the Jets should hire Rod Thorne!
11/18/2007 8:50AM
Isiah Time to Go
Dolan has to fire Isiah. He polled the team and the team said that Starbury should be benched. So what does he do but play Starbury 34 minutes and lets him take the big shot in another loss. Isiah has lost this team and needs to go.
11/17/2007 8:56PM
time to fire lawrence frank
TIME TO FIRE LAWRENCE FRANK i know im one of 5 net fans watching the game tonight but it's time for him to leave. we run absolutely no offense. we have jason kidd and get no good shots in the half court ever!! the time has no passion!!! we stink, and we have all this talent. why kidd did you have to run Byron Scott out of town? night after night of no offense, defense a million turnovers, poor use of players and did i say we do not run an offense???
11/15/2007 7:51AM
Nets can't beat Celt's
Its obvious in this young season that the Celts with K.G. and Ray Allen are a much better team then the Nets. Celt's might even give the West winner a run for thre money in the Finals.
11/15/2007 4:46AM
coach
i think the knicks should can thomas..lets bring in a better teacher of defense..keep up the great work evan..
11/14/2007 3:20PM
BE 4 Real
It all starts in the middle. Steph's game is fast paced. It all starts with Eddy Curry. How can Randolph rebound and Cuury not rebound. Why is the centered on Ed who rarely shows any hustle. Why are the knicks rewarding a player who has not earned the rewards of the BALL. Everyone who has played the game knows you mist earn the ball. If you don't get the ball you should get the rebound then take your shot. Ask Randolph. Why is he averages double , doulbes. I say if EDDY doesnt rebound he should be sitting not STARBURY. Isaiah of all people should know that!!!!
11/14/2007 1:51PM
CLEAN HOUSE !!!!
It's time for Dolan to realize he is the worst owner in sports! CLEAN HOUSE, start over and let us Knicks fans have a little hope!
11/14/2007 1:43PM

11/14/2007 1:42PM

you and marbury stink

Where's the Class Gone?
I was a huge Knick fan growing up, but I haven't paid much attention to the Knicks or the NBA in a number of years. I'm sick of watching players with the "Thug Life" mentality running up and down the courts. Players have no class these days and are, for the most part selfish immature thugs. I won't watch the NBA again until players start behaving like the Bird, Magic, Jordan of a few years back.

JERMAINE FITS IN JERSEY
I have been too critical at times of Jermaine O'Neal. To be fair i think he would be perfect for the Nets because of Jason playing point. The Lakers, unless they had a point like Jason,is not a good fit because there would be no one to distrubute the shot attempts evenly.Jason would do that for O'Neal.
07/19/2007 2:44AM
Like it..
Glad to see that Magloire is with the Nets. MM was very good, but Magloire I feel will be better for the Nets. He should start over Collins. He is a better shooter, rebounder and not bad on Def. This is a step up. Will it bring a championship? I don't think so, but it will make the team a lot better.
11/02/2006 3:48PM

Go Nets!
