Putting a Bow on the Bowls

Another college football season is in the books as the BCS national championship game went the way of Alabama over Texas at the Rose Bowl on Thursday night.

BCS Championship Preview: Moose's Call

This game is the second bowl game this year that pits two undefeated teams; TCU vs. Boise State was the other. The only difference here is the national championship is on the line.

Fiesta Bowl Preview: Moose's Take

It is a BCS bowl match-up that does not pit traditional national powers. Texas Christian won the Mountain West and Boise State was the WAC Champion and both teams finished the year undefeated.

Sugar Bowl Preview: Moose's Take

The Sugar Bowl is a good match-up that pits the Florida defense against the high octane Cincinnati offense. The game will also be the final collegiate game for Gators QB Tim Tebow.

Rose Bowl Preview: Moose's Take

This game is a classic match-up of power against speed. The force of the Big 10 champs against the speed of the Pac 10 champs. Ohio State will ride a five game winning streak into Pasadena...

More Bowl Previews

Armed Forces Bowl: Houston vs. Air Force. Something has to give here as the Cougars bring QB Case Kennum and their top-ranked pass offense against the top-ranked pass defense of the Falcons. The junior signal caller threw 43 touchdown passes in the regular season and averaged 450 yards per game.

U-Turn

Maybe we will never know the real story behind the flip-flop of Florida Head Coach Urban Meyer. He announces his resignation on Saturday, due to health issues...

Suh-weet

Just a quick thought on Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh as he became the 1st defensive player to be named the AP Player of the Year in college football. Suh finished 4th in the Heisman voting...

Moose Picks All 34 Bowl Games

New Mexico Bowl: Wyoming vs. Fresno State: Fresno State -11 ½. Two Words: Ryan Matthews. Bulldogs average over 230 yards per game on the ground. Cowboys defense can’t stop the run, 91st in the nation.

Bowl Picks Are In

What a great time of year! It has nothing to do with the holidays. It is the college bowl season silly. Yeah, yeah, the holidays are fun, but when you need to get away from the in-laws or the children, the best escape is watching some college football.

My Heisman Ballot

In a very strange year for the Heisman Trophy, there are 5 finalists. Stanford RB Toby Gerhart, Alabama RB Mark Ingram, Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh, Florida QB Tim Tebow and Texas QB Colt McCoy. I did hold my vote until 3pm on Monday.

A $ign of the Times

A sad story on Thursday as Hofstra announced on Thursday that the university is dropping football after 69 years. The school will use the $4.5 million dollars saved on scholarships...

Adding Injury To Insult

“Coldcocked”: To add injury to insult comes the story of Irish QB Jimmy Clausen. He was reportedly sucker punched by an irate fan outside a pub on Saturday night in South Bend following Notre Dame’s loss to UConn.

Mangino The Big Mouth

It is not often that you blog about Kansas football. Maybe we chat about Bill Self and Jayhawks basketball, but not about the gridiron. Until now and the story surrounds football coach, Mark Mangino.

Irish Eyes Aren't Smiling

Huge issues for Charlie Weis: This was supposed to be the year that Notre Dame stepped back into the forefront of college football. That is not exactly how this season has played out.

Spikes Spiked

Stunning development in Gainesville: To my surprise, Georgia running back Washaun Ealey has come to the defense of Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes.

Bye Bye Bryant

So Long Dez Bryant: The NCAA officially ruled last night that Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant will not be eligible to play until September 2010.

UConn Moving On

UConn will keep his locker intact until Howard would have graduated and will take his jersey on the road with them. Howard's stepfather, Henry Williams, told the team to grieve and then play the rest of the season for his son.

Let The Cowboy Ride Again

Give the Cowboy a 2nd chance: He panicked. That is why Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant lied to the NCAA about meeting up with former NFL star Deion Sanders.

College Football Focus

Gators QB Tim Tebow was back at practice on Tuesday on a limited basis. That is a good sign after suffering a concussion 11 days ago. However, he has not been cleared to play yet on Saturday night.

Tide Roll to Title

Roll Tide!... Alabama overcame a horrendous start and a near defensive collapse to complete a 14-0 season and win the program's 8th national title with a 37-21 victory over Texas.

BCS Championship Preview: Casey's Take

It seems like this matchup hasn’t been getting a whole lot of hype. That can be attributed to the long layoff and the fact that Texas in many ways “backed-in” to this title game.

Hawkeyes Fly High in Miami

In what was the single best coaching job of the entire season, Iowa accomplished what no one else could-- they stopped Georgia Tech's rushing attack.

Orange Bowl Preview

To me this game is very similar to the Rose Bowl. You have a Georgia Tech team that has the speed and athleticism of a Pac 10 team; meanwhile Iowa is built like a typical Big 10 team that makes their living with strength and power. The only difference is you’ll see speed have the advantage in this one.

A Fiesta for Boise State

This is not the game that many expected, myself included. TCU was a solid touchdown-favorite mainly because of their perceived advantage on offense against the soft Boise State defense.

Bowl Recap

30 down, 4 to go!... The Bowl season is flying by but we still have 3 BCS games to look forward to, including the much-anticipated national championship between Alabama and Texas.

Fiesta Bowl Preview: Casey's Call

By now it's an old argument but I hope everybody is in agreement with me when I say, “What the hell was the BCS committee thinking?!”... How can you pair these two teams up in a BCS bowl?

Sugar Bowl Preview

It goes without saying that a big storyline in this game will be the head coaches. In Cincinnati’s case, they said goodbye to Brian Kelly who took the Notre Dame job in early October. It was an awkwardly bitter divorce between Kelly and the Bearcats. The players felt abandoned by their leader.

Bowl Previews Galore

Chick-fil-A Bowl – Virginia Tech (9-3) vs. Tennessee (7-5) This is sure to be a great game. Both the Hokies and Volunteers had great finished to their seasons. Tech is on a 4-game winning streak while Tennessee has won 4 of 5. First-year head coach Lane Kiffin brought a swagger to the Vols when he first took the job and even though they haven’t had great success this season.

Rose Bowl Preview: Casey's Call

When I look at this game there are two clear reasons why Oregon will beat Ohio State. One is the fact that Terrelle Pryor is quarterbacking the Buckeyes. I do not like Pryor one bit.

The Mike Leach Saga

The big story in college football has nothing to do with Idaho’s dramatic victory over Bowling Green last night. It has nothing to do with a bowl game. It has nothing to do with anything that’s happened on the field.  The big story in college football is this bizarre Texas Tech situation that led to the firing of head coach Mike Leach.

A Change Of Heart

10 down, 24 to go... The bowl season is well underway. We've seen some exciting games as well as some disappointing blowouts. But the drama will increase as the stakes get higher.

Schiano Shines

The bowl season got off to a flying start this past Saturday. First in the New Mexico Bowl, it was Wyoming pulling off an unlikely upset, knocking off the Fresno State Bulldogs in double overtime...

Picks, Picks, Picks!!

The Tide are on a mission this season. They'll face a strong defense in the Longhorns but I look for Mark Ingram and the new-and-improved Greg McElroy to make a few big-time plays...

Let's Go Bowling

It’s bowl time baby!... You gotta love it. 2 1/2 weeks of non-stop college football action. With 34 total bowl games, you naturally have to put up with some rough matchups but we do have some great games to look forward to...

And The Winner Is...

It's been nearly a week since the completion of the college football regular season, so you know that means... It's time to honor a new Heisman Trophy winner.

Championship Week Recap

WOW!...what an unbelievable weekend in college football. Anytime the most anticipated game of the year turns into a drama-free blowout but the day is still considered great, then you know you saw some really fantastic games.

Championship Weekend

It was a very exciting weekend in college football. We saw some tremendous games taken down to the wire. There were a few upsets but the main bowl picture remains the same for the most part.

Sorry Charlie

The Charlie Weis era in South Bend will come to a merciful end at some point next week. Weis and the Irish have nothing to lose on Saturday against Stanford, but they have nothing to win either. The axe will drop…and deservingly so.

And Down the Stretch They Come

It really is incredible how fast this season is going by. Conference championships are already starting to be clinched and the bowl picture is shaping up as we are now entering week 12 of the season.

Casey's Call: Irish Eyes Aren't Smiling

After last week's embarrassing loss at home to Navy, Charlie Weis finds himself squarely on the hot seat. Weis is no stranger to the heat and criticism that he suddenly finds himself faced with.

Surprise Saturday

It wasn't quite Bloody Saturday but there certainly were quite a few surprises and upsets in the world of college football. You saw some teams make a statement, while others blew golden opportunities.

Orange Squeezed

It goes without saying that this has been a very tough season for the Syracuse Orange. First year head coach Doug Marrone is attempting to continue the rebuilding process in Syracuse and it certainly hasn't been easy.

A Painful End

It has been an extremely tough season for Randy Edsall and the UConn Huskies both on and off the field. Everybody knows about the horrible tragedy regarding Jasper Howard...

Conference Showdowns

We’re entering the stretch run of the college football season and there happens to be some very big and important matchups this weekend...
