It's like knowing you are going to break up with your girlfriend, but before dumping her, you let her rearrange your house! It's like giving her the control to sell your call, or name your dog! That would be insanity. But that's what it appears James Dolan is letting Isiah Thomas do. I know you can't assume Mr. Dolan will fire Thomas at the end of the year, but come on lets be real. How can he NOT fire Isiah when this dreadful season is done? If Dolan wants to let Isiah survive the year fine, but you cannot let him make trades that will further bury this team.
I swear I thought I was imagining things when I came across the rumor that the Knicks are interested in trading for Ben Wallace. What in the world could Isiah be thinking? That the miserable chemistry disrupting Wallace will come to NYC and find the fountain of youth and become a different person? Does he think that if you continue to add salary to the cap number it will go away? What could possibly be thought about in making a trade like that. The rumor bandied about would include Richardson, Malik Rose and Jarred Jefferies so its not like Isiah would be giving anything significant up, but he would be taking back a contract that makes Eddy Curry blush. If Isiah's goal is to collect the most ridiculous contracts he can find, then Wallace would be the perfect fit. I just can't understand how Dolan can let a man who probably will be unemployed next summer guide the future of this team! How many lottery picks squandered does it take before you get the pink slip!? James Dolan may never answer that question.
WEST RULES
How good is the Western conference? There will be a team that finishes well over .500 and good enough to be the 3rd or 4th seed in the East, that won't even make the playoffs out west. Here is how I would personally handicap it as of right now:
- Spurs
- Lakers
- Mavericks
- Hornets
- Suns
- Jazz
As you can see the trade for Shaq doesn't exactly excite me! The guy gets winded after one workout...uh oh did they think they acquired the O'Neal from 8 years ago?
No Point Needed
I don't buy the talk that the Celtics will need to acquire a veteran point guard for the playoffs. Obviously if one fell in their lap they could use one, but I love Rajon Rondo. The guys plays great defense and is not needed to take big shots late in games. With a healthy Garnett, Allen and Pierce, they have plenty of guys not afraid to take the big shot. Rondo is a feisty defensive player and even though he doesn't have playoff experience, he should not be discounted.
